  • Patent number: 8325892
Abstract: A system and method for authentication for configuring a customer premises equipment (CPE) in a service provider network. In a multiple dwelling unit (MDU) a customer device (e.g., voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) phone) can be configured with CPE functionality, thereby enabling the customer device CPE to support the provision of service to multiple additional customer devices in a customer premises. A dedicated CPE device is thereby eliminated from the service provider network. The customer device CPE can be designed to support a form of authentication (e.g., Layer 2, Layer 3) that would be sufficient for access by the multiple additional customer devices to various network services.

  • Patent number: 8325785
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for communicating via a spatial multilink repeater are provided. In this regard, a received signal may be frequency shifted to generate a plurality of repeated signals, wherein each repeated signal may be shifted by a different frequency with respect to the received signal. Each repeated signal may comprise one or more signal components and a phase and/or amplitude of each of the components may be controlled to control a directivity of the repeated signals. Each of the repeated signals may be generated by quadrature down-converting said received signal by mixing the received signal with a first LO signal pair, up-converting the down-converted signal by mixing it with a second LO signal pair, and adding or subtracting an in-phase portion and a quadrature-phase portion of the up-converted signal.

  • Publication number: 20120301037
Abstract: A method of correcting a current image taken by a capturing device, the current image captured after a previous image, the method comprising the steps of: determining a noticeable pixel group, such as an edge of an object in the previous image; locating the noticeable pixel groups in the current image, by finding corresponding pixels whose values are most similar to the values of the noticeable pixels, determining the offset between the previous image and the current image, and correcting the current image using the offset. Optionally, multiple offsets are determined for multiple areas in the current image, and other areas in the image are optionally corrected according to interpolations between the determined offsets.

  • Publication number: 20120303757
Abstract: Transmitting streamed video to at least one wireless terminal by a wireless network having a channel frequency reuse pattern. The wireless network receives a request for the streamed video from the at least one wireless terminal and receives position information from the at least one wireless terminal requesting the streamed video. The wireless network selects a transceiving device to service transmission of the streamed video to the at least one wireless terminal. The transceiving device is allocated a first channel frequency set of the channel frequency reuse pattern. The wireless network or a component thereof selects a channel from a second channel frequency set that is different from the first channel frequency set. The transceiving device then, using a directional antenna, transmits the streamed video to the at least one wireless terminal in a direction based upon the position information using the selected channel.

  • Publication number: 20120300861
Abstract: Forward error correction (FEC) m-bit symbol modulation. Any desired FEC, error correction code (ECC), and/or combination thereof generates coded bits for combination with either uncoded bits, separately generated coded bits, and/or combination thereof to generate a number of symbols that undergo mapping to a constellation whose respective constellation points have a mapping characterized by a maximum minimum intra-Euclidean distance between the respective constellation points thereby generating a sequence of discrete-valued modulation symbols. The sequence of discrete-valued modulation symbols may then undergo modulation of any of a number of different operations (e.g., digital to analog conversion [e.g., digital to analog converter (DAC)], scaling, frequency shifting, filtering, etc.) to generate a continuous time signal for transmission via a communication channel. • Publication number: 20120302163
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for operating an electronic component, such as an NEC communication device, allow performance of at least one operation based, at least in part, on the relative positions and/or motions of the electronic component over time. Information regarding motion of the electronic component is used to determine one or more actions, or one or more state changes of the electronic component. Such an electronic component is motion-aware. Since this motion-awareness gives the electronic component the ability to take one or more actions, or to make one or more state changes, based, at least in part, on information indicative of its relative position or motions over time, various states and/or functions of the electronic device may be initiated and/or controlled by subjecting it to one or more movements or motions.
