  • Patent number: 9554414
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to allow the idle period to be defined in a more tailored manner, such as on a per station or per class of stations basis, as opposed to on a per access point basis. In the context of a method, an indication of an idle period is caused to be provided to a station. The method also causes an association with the station to be maintained for a period of time that is at least partially defined by the idle period. The period of time for which an association is maintained with the station is different than a period of time for which an association is maintained with another station in an absence of communication with the another station. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170018551
Abstract: A field effect transistor (FET) having one or more fins provides an extended current path as compared to conventional finFETs. A source terminal is disposed on a first fin between a first dummy gate and a gate structure. A drain terminal is disposed on a second fin between a second dummy gate and a third dummy gate. A first gate oxide layer disposed under second and third dummy gates is made to be thinner than a second gate oxide layer disposed under the first dummy gate and the gate structure. By making the first gate oxide layer thinner, an overall footprint of the finFET device is reduced.

  • Patent number: 9549326
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided facilitating flexible time sharing among systems. A method and apparatus may generate a secondary component carrier transmission plan including planned on and off durations. The planned on durations correspond to a time period for an apparatus and devices to communicate via an unlicensed band of the secondary component carrier. The planned off durations correspond to a time interval in which the devices may deactivate from the unlicensed band or remain disconnected from the unlicensed band. The method and apparatus may also enable provision of the plan to the devices via a licensed band of a primary component carrier and detecting a medium of the unlicensed band prior to the expiration of the time period to determine whether the medium is available in order to decide whether to turn on transmissions to the unlicensed band after one of the planned off durations.

  • Patent number: 9549214
Abstract: A cable network gateway receives a downstream broadband signal via service provider cabling at an interface. An Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) converts the downstream broadband signal to a digital downstream broadband signal. A digital filter attenuates an upper spectrum from the digital downstream broadband signal to produce a filtered digitized downstream broadband signal. An in-home communications transceiver produces a digital in-home communications signal that overlaps the upper spectrum. Summing circuitry sums the filtered digitized downstream broadband signal with the digital in-home communications signal to produce a combined digital signal. A Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) converts the combined digital signal to a combined analog signal and an in-home cable interface transmits the combined analog signal via in-home cabling. The downstream broadband signal may be a Data over Cable System Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 3.0/3.

  • Patent number: 9544638
Abstract: In conventional packet communications systems, such as MPEG-2, the data stream includes a program clock reference (PCR) so that the receiver decoder can lock on to the data stream. The invention eliminates the need to send the PCR by transferring a data transport rate explicitly in the header of the data packets so that the decoder can use the transport rate as a locking reference and adjust its phase lock loop. The transport rate is carried in the adaptation field as user private data.
