    Abstract: In a sewing data processing device, an LCD is switched to a pattern selecting screen when a user selects a desired stitch or sewing mode on a menu selecting screen. The user selects a desired embroidery pattern on the pattern selecting screen. When the selected embroidery pattern is a character pattern protected by copyright, a control device counts the number of times of use of the embroidery data of the selected character pattern to store data of the number of times of use in a non-volatile memory.
