Abstract: A head unit includes: a head having a nozzle surface spreading in a first direction and a second direction crossing the first direction, the nozzle surface having a nozzle row along the first direction; a tank fluidly connected to the head; a substrate electrically connected to the head; a casing containing the head, the tank and the substrate; and an edge member defining an opening through which a tube fluidly connectable to the tank and a wiring electrically connectable to the substrate pass, the edge member being detachably attachable with respect to the casing, wherein the edge member is attachable with respect to the casing selectively in a first state in which the opening faces in a third direction crossing the first direction and the second direction and a second state in which the opening faces in the first direction.

Abstract: An image display apparatus acquires other-party device history information that associates other-party device information with call history information that is records of calls, the other-party device information being related to devices of other parties that have talked with a user of the image display apparatus on the phone through a telephone device. Further, the image display apparatus selects the other-party device information about devices of other parties that talked with the user on the phone a predetermined period of time ago or earlier, by referring to the other-party device history information thus acquired. Furthermore, the image display apparatus acquires image information related to the other-party device information thus selected, and causes an image according to the image information thus acquired, to be displayed.

Abstract: An image scanning device is provided with a transparent plate, a contact image sensor, a scanning device casing, a cover member, and a display device. An image medium having an image to be scanned is placed on the transparent plate. The contact image sensor is disposed below the transparent plate, and scans the image of the image medium placed on the transparent plate. The scanning device casing houses the transparent plate and the contact image sensor. The cover member covers a top face of the transparent plate. The display device is capable of moving between a lying position and a standing position. In a state where the display device is positioned anywhere between the lying position and the standing position, a top end of the display device is lower than a top end of the cover member, and a bottom end of the display device is higher than a bottom end of the scanning device casing.

Abstract: An equipment which requires an external unit to be assembled therein for starting inherent operation. The equipment includes a detection means for detecting an identification mark such as a trade mark affixed to the external unit. The equipment is only operable upon detection of a proper identification mark. The equipment may be a printer and an image recording apparatus such as a copying machine, and the external unit may be an image recording medium cassette such as an ink ribbon cassette and a rolled photosensitive sheet cartridge.

Abstract: A printer having a bi-directional shortcut printing function, in which a printing pause line or a last line of previously stored text is identified and character data of the printing pause line or last print line is always printed in the normal direction. Since a carriage stops at the position where the last character of the printing pause line or last line is printed, it is effective to subsequently continue printing characters input by manual typing from that position in real time.

Abstract: The photo and pressure sensitive recording medium provided with a plurality of light permeable portions while the remaining portion thereof being light-shielded is disclosed. With this recording medium, a light can be projected through the recording medium onto a copy subject which is placed in close contact with the recording medium. The photosensitive surface of the recording medium is exposed to the light reflected from the copy subject and a latent image corresponding to the image fixed on the copy subject is formed on the recording medium.
