  • Patent number: 4636580
Abstract: In this static converter module, which is equipped with thyristors, diodes or power transistors, mounting lugs (4,11) having mounting holes (5,6,12,13) are used for mounting the module on a heat sink. The housing of the module is essentially formed by a frame (1,10) which is open at the top and at the bottom and by a ceramic plate which is inserted into the base part of the frame. For the purpose of fixing the ceramic plate in place, a peripheral indentation (7,15) is provided in the base part of the frame. In order to prevent mechanical stresses in the area of the mounting holes/mounting lugs from being transmitted to the ceramic plate, slits (9) are provided between the frame walls and the mounting holes. As an alternative to this, the peripheral indentation (15) can be provided with steps in such a manner that in the area of the two frame walls provided with the mounting lugs (11) a slot-shaped recess (16) is produced between the ceramic plate and the peripheral indentation (15).

  • Patent number: 4629261
Abstract: A safety and centering device for rotors suspended in contactless magnetic bearings, which provides almost instantaneous centering support for the rotor if the bearing magnets loose power. In a preferred embodiment, the rotor shaft has a collar with a conical friction surface, and a sleeve controlled by an electro magnet with counter-acting springs and also having a conical friction surface. In case of power failure the springs force the two surfaces together and provide centering support for the rotor. In another embodiment having a vertical rotor, the bearing magnets lift the rotor with the friction collar out of engagement with the matching stationary friction surface when the rotor is operating; but if the rotor bearings become de-energized the rotor drops with the collar falling into engagement with the matching friction surface.

  • Patent number: 4625269
Abstract: In the high voltage d-c transmission (HGU) power station in a block circuit, a three-phase generator feeds a 12-pulse high voltage d-c transmission (HGU) short coupler through at least one shifting transformer which serves for forming voltages of two three-phase voltage systems phase-shifted relative to each other by 30.degree. el. As compared to a full transformer, the shifting transformer can be constructed for substantially less power, which reduces the cost and the losses of the station. While the voltages of the two phase-shifted voltage systems can be taken off at the external terminals of the secondary windings of the shifting transformer, the center taps of the secondary windings are acted upon by the generator voltage. Advantageously, the high voltage d-c transmission short coupler is formed of a multiplicity of parallel, electrically separate d-c circuits which can be fed by separate shifting transformers.

  • Patent number: 4621524
Abstract: Test stands for automotive vehicles at the present are required in most cases to permit dynamic tests wherein an essential criterion consists of the simulation of the actual vehicle inertia moment, in order to obtain a realistic acceleration behavior. The test stand normally has a constant inertia moment. A process and a circuit layout is proposed for the simulation of vehicle inertia moments, whereby the test stand and the test specimen represent a n-mass oscillator, the masses of which are elastically joined together. By means of electronic functional elements (24, 25, 27, 32, 33, and 34), an m number of further masses are imitated electronically so that the regulation technical structure corresponds to the differential equation system of a (n+m) mass system. An air gap moment controlled electric machine is used as the transmission element (34) between the electric functional elements (24, 25, 27, 32, 33, and 34) and the mechanical masses. By setting the time constants (T.sub.Kfz, T.sub.

  • Patent number: 4606778
Abstract: The invention relates to a joining method for the production of a component from two or more constructional elements which are manufactured from a highly distortion-resistant metallic material, in particular a material based on nickel or iron. The constructional elements and the interlayer are manufactured from an oxide dispersion-hardened material, and are joined together with insertion of the interlayer to give the component. The interlayer is in an unrecrystallized fine-grained plastic state before the joining process, and undergoes recrystallization, as a result of heat treatment, only after the joining process, which is carried out at a temperature of 800 to 1,100 degrees centigrade and under a pressure of 1 to 200 Mpa.

  • Patent number: 4588428
Abstract: Control method for a liquid-cooled cable installation with a hollow conductor, through which a coolant flows, as the cable conductor. The hollow space is divided in the longitudinal direction by partitions forming separate canals for the outgoing flow and the return of the coolant and in which canals the coolant is in contact with the conductor at high-voltage potential. Heat exchangers are provided at the start and the end of the cable system or at intermediate stations. The cable flow temperature (.theta..sub.Z *) of the coolant is lowered with increasing load of the cable by influencing the heat exchanger and is conversely raised with falling load in such a manner that the mean value of the coolant (.theta..sub.m) remains constant.
