Patents Assigned to Brown Innovations LLC
  • Patent number: 11896518
Abstract: A customizable mandibular advancement device for use in treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnea is provided. The device comprises upper and lower trays adapted to be fitted to a person's maxillary and mandibular arches. The upper tray comprises a stop member, which when engaged with a fin located on the lower tray, inhibits the posterior movement of the user's mandible thereby maintaining the mandible in an advanced position. Both the upper and lower trays comprise a core that is overmolded by a thermoplastic material that has a much lower softening temperature than the core.

  • Patent number: 11035641
Abstract: An archery bow with a riser including a mount in a centerline plane of the riser above a lower wall of a sight window of the riser may allow for a novel manner of mounting an archery accessory. Placement of the mount within a centerline plane of the riser may maintain the weight of the archery accessory along a center of the bow, thereby reducing or eliminating asymmetrically weighted bows or the need for an additional stabilizer to balance the weight of the archery accessory. Positioning the mount above the lower wall of the sight window additionally allows for coordination of the position of a secondary accessory, such as a sight, a light, or a camera, in addition to mounting an arrow rest, such as in a lower wall of the sight window, while maintaining the centralized weight advantages noted above.

  • Patent number: 10940045
Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) foam having a soft open-cell inner layer and a washable closed-cell outer layer which surrounds and substantially seals the inner layer, and which may be used alone or in combination with other components to produce useful articles. The TPE foam includes a base resin which is a styrenic block copolymer, and a foaming agent. A process of forming and molding the TPE foam includes using a shutoff nozzle to prevent the foaming agent from activating before reaching the mold cavity, using an oversized gate to minimize shear heat, and using oversized vents. An earplug may be constructed by molding the TPE foam over a core or body formed from a material which is denser than the TPE foam. A first earplug design may employ a constrained layer damping effect, while a second earplug design may employ an adjustable sound attenuation effect.

  • Patent number: 10030954
Abstract: An enhanced slide and a circumferential stop assembly for use with a bowfishing arrow may include matching shapes for engaging one another in use. The engagement of such matching shapes offers many improvements over conventional slide and stop assemblies, including an even circumferential distribution of impact between the slide and the stop as well as inhibiting relative longitudinal or rotational movement between the slide and stop assemblies. The stop assembly may further include a nock adapter for engaging a nock, thereby serving as a dual purpose adapter. For ease of use and installation, the stop assembly may be an outsert, meaning that it is adapted to fit snugly over an arrow shaft.

  • Patent number: 9829292
Abstract: An arrow with a non-circular central bore may allow for differential flexural rigidity in the shaft. A non-circular central bore, such as in the form of a bore with a rounded polygon, or more specifically a reuleaux triangle, may also provide self-alighting features when paired with a nock or arrowhead with similar shaped elements. This may allow a user to properly nock an arrow without resorting to manual alignment of the nock and fletchings. The central bore may extend along an entirety of the shaft, or only along a portion of the shaft. The non-circular central bore may be incorporated in an arrow shaft with a round exterior cross section, or with an arrow with a non-circular exterior cross section, such as in the form of a rounded polygon, or more specifically a reuleaux triangle.

  • Patent number: 9671202
Abstract: An arrow with self-aligning features allows a user to properly nock the arrow without resorting to manual alignment of the nock and fletchings. Engagement of a removable nock and shaft, each with a rounded polygonal cross-section, such as a reuleaux triangle, allow for a fixed relative angular position between the nock and the shaft without the use of an adhesive. This allows for proper position between the nock and index vane to ensure a more accurate path of the arrow during flight. Similarly, the reuleaux triangle cross-section of the shaft may engage an arrow head with a similar reuleaux triangle for accurate alignment between the shaft and the arrow head.
