Publication number: 20140319862Abstract: There is provided a pair of tongs for grasping items comprising a pair of gripping ends, having a silicone and/or plastic exterior surface, where a first of the pair of gripping ends further comprises a set of metal teeth projecting toward the second of the pair of gripping ends. Each of the first and second of the pair of gripping ends may comprises a body core at least partially covered by a (silicone) coating. In one embodiment, teeth are embedded within a plastic core. In another, the core comprises a metal frame from which the teeth project. The set of teeth may be spaced from a periphery of the gripping end. The second of the pair of gripping ends may also comprise metal teeth projecting toward the first of the pair of gripping ends.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2011Publication date: October 30, 2014Applicant: BROWNE & CO.Inventors: Neal Ho, David Chan

Publication number: 20140224911Abstract: This invention relates to a food processors and specifically to flexible blades for food processors. Disclosed is a rotatable, flexible cutting blade and a food processing apparatus using a rotatable, flexible cutting blade. The rotatable, flexible cutting blade is connected to a food processor drive mechanism and is comprised of one or more blade arms. The blade arms comprise a blade and a flexible portion where the flexible portion connects the blade to the drive mechanism via mechanical means. The blade arms start in a first position away from the plane orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the rotatable, flexible cutting blade. When the rotatable, flexible cutting blade is rotated at sufficient speeds, centrifugal forces cause the blades to move away from their first position. As the rotation slows, the blades return to their first position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2014Publication date: August 14, 2014Applicant: Browne & Co.Inventor: Neal HO

Publication number: 20140227418Abstract: The present invention provides a dual purpose roasting rack having opposed arms mounted to a roasting rack which are movable between two configurations. In the first configuration, the arms are substantially parallel to the base and food may be mounted on the roasting rack apparatus in a horizontal orientation. In the second configuration, the opposed arms sit substantially upright relative to the base and cooperate to enable food, such as poultry, to be cooked in a vertical orientation. The opposed arms may rotate between the two configurations and may interlock together while in the second configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2014Publication date: August 14, 2014Applicant: Browne & Co.Inventor: Neal HO

Patent number: 8448887Abstract: The present matter provides an improved grating surface and graters having an improved grating surface. The grating surface includes one or more cutting blades extending outwardly from the grating surface each including a cutting edge, and at least one groove located on the grating surface and extending towards the cutting edge of the at least one cutting blade. The at least one groove can be located on the cutting blade surface and extend towards and into the cutting edge. The at least one grove can be formed by chemical etching techniques (e.g. in a grating surface of metal such as stainless steel). Grooves and cutting blades can be simultaneously formed in a grating surface by chemical etching.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2010Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Browne & Co.Inventors: David Green, David Chan, Karen Chow

Publication number: 20120139276Abstract: There is provided a pair of tongs for grasping items, particularly food from a grill or griddle. Prongs are sized and space to fit between gaps in the cooking surface to slide under the food. The spacing may be adjustable to size the tongs for different sizes of grill/griddle spacing. For example, mounting ends of the prongs are coupled for rotation within an end of an arm. Gears between the prongs permit the turning of one prong when the other is rotated. The rotation adjusts the relative spacing between parallel elongate portions of the tongs. The spacing adjustment allows the prongs to fit grills with different size spacing.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2011Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: Browne & Co.Inventors: David Green, David Chan
