  • Patent number: 4890973
Abstract: A push-pull slip sheet handling attachment for a forklift truck is fork-supported. The attachment is connected to the fork upright portions. In one embodiment, the base frame of the attachment includes side frame members that straddle the fork uprights and fork connectors that are vertically movable on a base frame support foot between latching positions behind the fork uprights and release positions below the fork uprights. In another embodiment, the base frame is mounted in front of the fork uprights and has pin-type fork connectors adjustable vertically and movable transversely behind the fork uprights between latching and release positions. Both embodiments have lightweight, compliant base frames comprising an open framework having thin side frame members and a minimum of cross frame members.

  • Patent number: 4828450
Abstract: A load handling attachment for a forklift truck has an upright base, a load engaging platen, and a push-pull assembly connected to the base above the platen. The attachment also includes a device for connecting the base frame to a carriage of the forklift truck to resist forward movement of the base relative to the carriage. The connecting device includes a linearly movable device mounted on a side frame member of the base, the linearly movable device engaging an upright fork portion when in a carriage attaching position.

  • Patent number: 4600350
Abstract: A container chassis handling attachment for a lift truck having a lift carriage includes a frame for attachment to the lift carriage. It also includes a pair of upper and lower laterally-spaced forks independently mounted to the frame by separate four-bar linkages and movable by separate hydraulic cylinders. A clamp-positioning means cooperates with the forks to rotate the forks and any chassis gripped thereby through 180.degree.. The attachment is used to store a chassis by clamping from one side opposing top and bottom surfaces of the chassis, lifting the chassis, rotating the chassis about 90.degree. to a substantially upright position, and depositing the chassis in such position against a support. Alternatively, the chassis may be rotated 180.degree. to an upside-down position and deposited onto an underlying right-side-up chassis, eventually to form a stack of alternating right-side-up, upside-down chassis.

  • Patent number: 4493421
Abstract: A side-loading rack for storing wheeled container chassis in a nearly vertical, slightly leaning position has a framework of dividers defining plural vertical slots open on one or both sides for receiving a container chassis sideways in each slot. Each divider includes a chassis support arm which extends front to rear along an upper side of each slot. A wheel support on one side of each divider is positioned in a lower part of each slot to support the wheels of a container chassis so that the chassis frame leans at a small angle from vertical against the chassis support arm of an adjacent divider. Corner castings are positioned at opposite ends of the rack so that it can be handled in the same manner as a container. The dividers of one embodiment are constructed with an upper portion, including the chassis support arms, either removable from or collapsible into the lower portion of the frame means to form a more compact structure for ease of handling.

  • Patent number: 4198189
Abstract: A rotator attachment for rotating a load handling mechanism on a lift truck includes a frame carrying an inner gear with external teeth and rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the truck. An outer gear surrounds the inner gear and has a greater number of internal teeth engaging the external teeth of the inner gear. A pair of double-acting hydraulic cylinders connected to the frame and outer gear are operated in sequence to drive the outer gear in a gyratory eccentric path with respect to such axis so as to rotate the inner gear and a connected load handling attachment about such axis. Control valving responsive to the position of the outer gear in its eccentric path is provided for operating the cylinders in the correct sequence for driving the outer gear. Relief valving is provided in conjunction with the control valving for preventing pressure-locking of the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4173425
Abstract: A quick coupling for connecting a side shift cylinder of a carriage attachment to the lift carriage of a lift truck includes a pair of laterally spaced mounting blocks extending between and welded to the upper and lower cross frame members of the lift carriage to provide a mounting space therebetween. A rear portion of a mounting plate extends into the mounting space, and a pull pin extends through aligned openings of the blocks and plate to removably connect the plate to the lift carriage. A forward portion of the plate projects forwardly beyond and overlaps the front faces of the carriage cross frame members and has an opening therethrough which receives a piston rod extension of the side shift cylinder of the attachment. A second pull pin extends through an opening in the leading end portion of the extension to removably connect the side shift cylinder to the mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 3984019
Abstract: A lift truck load handling attachment adaptable particularly for transporting an elongate load longitudinally of said truck and having means for transversely extending the load forks to one side or the other of the truck in order to pick up or deposit the load. The attachment comprises a support member mountable on a conventional lift truck carriage, and includes a forwardly protruding, laterally swinging boom pivotally mounted on the top of the support member. The boom is preferably constructed in the form of an elongate horizontal parallelogram having hinged joints at all four corners. A spaced pair of pivotal joints at the rear of the boom assembly constitute its pivotal connection to the support member, while a cross-head at the front of the boom includes a front pair of pivotal joints. A load handling fork assembly depends from the cross-head with its forks facing transversely to one side of the truck.
