Abstract: Methods and apparatus for an asymmetrical fastening system according to various aspects of the present invention include a driver and a fastener that are configured to have corresponding conforming surfaces suitably adapted to provide substantially complete engagement between a torque surface of the driver and a recessed socket area of the fastener. The driver and fastener may each be configured to include a driving surface that is aligned with a longitudinal axis and a removal surface that intersects a radial extending from the longitudinal axis at an oblique angle. The driver and fastener may further include corresponding tapering surfaces that allow the torque surface of the driver to wedge against the recessed socket area of the fastener.
