  • Patent number: 4324522
Abstract: A metal sheet handling machine is disclosed which is characterized by a belt infeed conveyor with a belt tensioning arrangement and a mounting enabling the belt members to be readily removed laterally of the machine for replacement and when in operative position enabling leading end portions to be swung between two different levels, the normal raised position permitting sheets to advance across a pivoted gate to a horizontal carry over feed conveyor which advances the sheets across a reject piling area for deposit in one or more forwardly spaced sheet piling areas and the lowered position of the conveyor end portion permitting sheets to be advanced to a downwardly and forwardly inclined conveyor leading to a reject piling area, the pivoted gate being operable, when in lowered position, to bridge the gap between the discharge end of the infeed conveyor and the entrance end of the carry-over conveyor and when in raised position opening the gap and permitting entrance to the inclined reject conveyor when the end

  • Patent number: 4130206
Abstract: A machine for piling metal sheets in dual piling areas in which are positioned pile accumulating mechanisms having sheet end stop and side edge guide mechanisms, which machine includes an infeed conveyor positioned to normally deliver sheets fed thereto into the first pile accumulating mechanism and an overhead magnetic conveyor overlying the discharge end of the infeed conveyor which may be activated to lift selected sheets from the infeed conveyor and deliver them onto an associated conveyor which serves to feed sheets to a second pile accumulating mechanism and which is supported in cantilevered arrangement on the supporting frame of the second pile accumulating mechanism and extends rearwardly thereof and above the first pile accumulating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4051946
Abstract: A rail-type conveyor unit is disclosed for handling metal sheets or similar articles which is characterized by an elongate frame having sprocket assemblies at opposite ends on which are supported a pair of parallel, roller-type, endless chains, and having a series of electromagnets mounted in longitudinally spaced relation thereon which are operative for holding the sheets against padded cross members connecting the chains as the latter traverse a path along the bottom of the conveyor, the cross members being mounted on chain link pivot pins and the chain rollers riding on transversely spaced, track-forming rail members which constitute a part of depending extensions of the electromagnet pole members, and the electromagnet assemblies and associated rail members being arranged in the form of separate, longitudinally spaced units with connecting members of non-magnetic material.

  • Patent number: 3977537
Abstract: A method and apparatus especially adapted for use in piling sheets in a sheet handling line, in which the sheets are delivered by overhead conveyors of a piling machine to one or more piling areas, where a movable sheet edge guide apparatus is adjustably mounted for co-operation with a pile supporting platform which is positioned in the piling area to receive the sheets in one or more piles or stacks, with a system of controls being provided for coordinating the operations of the conveyors and the edge guiding and pile supporting apparatus so that, when desired, deposit of a plurality of piles of the sheets on the pile supporting platform or platforms in either side-by-side or end-to-end relation, with minimum adjustment of equipment, is possible.

  • Patent number: 3957361
Abstract: A wire spring attachment for mounting on the temples of eyeglass frames so as to exert a pull on the temples when the eyeglasses are in use with sufficient pressure against the back of the head or upper neck portion of the wearer to prevent movement of the eyeglasses out of proper position, especially, when the wearer moves his head out of normal upright position in leaning over or the like. This invention relates to eyeglass constructions and is more particularly concerned with improvements in attachments for eyeglass frame structures which are adapted to hold the eyeglass in proper position on the head of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 3942784
Abstract: A sheet piling machine for stacking metal sheets of material which respond to magnetic force which machine is characterized by an upright supporting frame defining two in-line stacking areas having suitable lift platforms on which sheets are piled, an elongate overhead magnetic sheet conveyor mounted on the supporting frame above the first stacking or piling area, a roller skate conveyor forming an approach to the entrance end of each of the stacking areas and spaced below the overhead conveyor in predetermined, vertical relation so as not to interfere with the entry of sheets to the respective stacking areas, each roller skate conveyor being inclined in the direction of the associated stacking area so as to cause sheets deposited thereon to be advanced by gravity into the associated stacking area, end stop and back stop mechanisms and a side guide mechanism for each of the stacking areas, and electrical control circuits for controlling the operation of the magnetic conveyor and associated mechanisms so as to
