Patents Assigned to Buchanan Construction Products, Inc.
  • Patent number: 5602364
Abstract: A cable duct has a plurality of end-to-end connectable sections, with each section being formed of two interengaging panel members. In combination, the panel members form the side walls, cover and base of each section. Each panel member includes a side wall, cover portion and base portion which are hinged together and when the panels are folded at the hinges, each panel member forms a side wall and a portion of the cover and a portion of the base. The cover portion and base portions overlap with the extent of overlapping determining the space between the side walls and the width of a section. The panel members are adjustably secured together along the base so as to provide connectable sections and thus a cable duct of varying width.

  • Patent number: 5557070
Abstract: A cap for a twist-on electrical connector includes a body formed of a semi-rigid insulating material and having a central bore, open at one end and closed at the other end by an integral end wall. The bore of the cap is formed to receive a wire clamping structure such as a coiled spring. The body has a first exterior portion of maximum diameter generally adjacent the open end. Substantially the remaining portion of the body is generally conical and has a pair of generally oppositely positioned laterally extending wings. The wings are each generally tangential to the conical body portion and the outwardly facing side of each wing has a concave pressure application surface area.

  • Patent number: 5267880
Abstract: A connector assembly for electrically connecting or splicing multiple pairs of insulated conductors comprising a feeder circuit, and providing a tap connection through an integral and easily accessible fuse for each phase of the circuit. The assembly comprises a multi-piece housing typically of thermoplastic material, and includes various caps and plugs which when assembled provide a watertight seal for the entire connection. The tap connection, commonly referred to as the load side, comprises a male plug assembly consisting of two blades within a housing which in turn is seated within an elastomeric boot; this entire assembly is mated with a female receptacle on the main housing, coming into intimate contact with the female receptacle, insuring a submersible watertight seal. This tap connection can be readily disconnected and re-connected without interruption to the main feed circuit, by simply unplugging the load side plug from the line side housing.

  • Patent number: 5236177
Abstract: A guide for placement in an opening in an electrical junction box and which will extend into a conduit mounted at the box opening includes a generally tubular body having an axially extending opening. The body is resilient so that external pressure applied thereto will reduce the width of the opening to permit the body and thus the guide to be positioned within the conduit. When pressure is released, the body will expand into an interference fit with an appropriately sized conduit. There is a roller mounted to one end of the tubular body for movement about an axis generally perpendicular to that of the body. Wires or other flexible members may be passed over the roller in moving from a conduit into a box and from the box into a conduit.

  • Patent number: 5214247
Abstract: A cable connector for supporting and retaining electrical conductors or cables in an opening of an electrical junction box or the like. The connector is comprised of a hollow tubular body with a saddle-shaped compound concave flange at one end and longitudinally extending folds or corrugations in opposing sides of the tubular body at the other end. The connector is formed of a readily deformable metal so as to allow the hollow tubular body to be compressed around a cable passed axially through it. The two radii dimensions of the compound concave flange are chosen such that upon compression of the corrugated section the flange is deformed into a flat, planar shape which abuts against the inside wall of the electrical box. Compression of the corrugated end also results in the centermost corrugation being forced outward so as to form an opposing abutment to the flange.

  • Patent number: 5211575
Abstract: A wire connector for simultaneously connecting a plurality of insulated conductors, without stripping or twisting the conductors, and which conductors may be of the same or a different wire gauge. There is a housing which has a plurality of openings for the insertion of insulated conductors. A plurality of wire guides are positioned within the housing and extend transverse to insulated conductors positioned within the housing for connection. Each wire guide has openings in alignment with the housing openings, with the openings in each wire guide being of the same size, but with the openings in successive wire guides decreasing in size with the wire guide with the smallest openings being furthest from the housing openings. The wire guides function as a positive stop, limiting the insertion of the insulated conductors in accordance with the size of the conductors.

  • Patent number: 5029817
Abstract: A wire pulling guide for use with an electrical conduit elbow having opposed side walls, opposed end walls and a floor, the walls and floor forming a generally rectangular elbow cavity, and a plurality of connector apertures in the elbow communicating with the cavity, the guide comprising a body having a base, support means extending upwardly therefrom, roller means on the support means, and clamp means on the support means, the body being adapted for positioning in the elbow cavity with the working surface of the roller aligned with a connector aperture, and with portions of the elbow in contact with the clamp means.
