  • Patent number: 6302747
Abstract: An actuator housing provides a low-cost method of achieving electrical connection to the motor terminals of a DC motor in a two position HVAC actuator. The connector configuration interfacing with a controller or power supply is easily changed by making the connector a modular connector, providing an effective fluid ingress prevention. The modular connector design is fixed from the connector flange inward into a housing, and is flexible outward with respect to its pin configuration and shroud shape. This design allows different connector configurations to be utilized with minimal tooling investment. A capacitor can also be inserted and crimped to the connector pin stampings, prior to being over-molded, to provide EMI filtering.

  • Patent number: 6055877
Abstract: A power seat track motor assembly controls motion of a seat in a vehicle. The power seat track motor assembly has a motor that has a first axis of rotation, a gear box having gears that turn in response to rotation of the motor, and a threaded screw that turns in response to turning of the gears in the gear box. The threaded screw has a second axis of rotation that is substantially parallel to the first axis of rotation of the motor so that forces imposed on the screw substantially by-pass the motor and gear box. The assembly also has a threaded structure including a threaded hole through which the threaded screw is threadably inserted. Either the threaded screw or the threaded structure is integral with or mechanically linked to the seat, so that rotation of the threaded screw relative to the threaded hole causes the seat to move. The threaded screw is in compression during normal operation so as to bear the forces that are imposed on the screw to substantially by-pass the motor and gear box.

  • Patent number: 5473212
Abstract: A varistor disk assembly for mounting to a commutator base comprising a non-conductive retaining ring, a conductive member, and a varistor disk interposed between the commutator base and the distal end of the retaining ring. The retaining ring has an axial bore therethrough providing a friction fit with the motor shaft on which the commutator is mounted. A tolerance absorbing member can be interposed between the varistor disk and the retaining ring. The conductive member conducts current through its thickness from the commutator base to the varistor disk, but does not conduct current between adjacent commutator segments. To orient the varistor disk to the commutator, the proximal end of the retaining ring can have at least one planar side formed in its periphery for alignment with one of the commutator segments, while the distal end of the retaining ring also has formed in its periphery a planar side, and the varistor disk is provided with a complementary planar side in its inner diameter.

  • Patent number: 4633149
Abstract: An axial air gap sub-fractional horsepower brushless DC motor of the pancake type including a rotor assembly having a disc-like annular cylindrical permanent magnet supported on a shaft, the magnet having plural pairs of axially magnetized magnetic poles, and a stator formed of two identical stator component sub-assemblies located on opposite sides of the permanent magnet each including a thin disc-like annular backing plate of soft magnetic material, a plurality of coils supported thereon arranged in a circular path forming an odd number of coils, and a hall effect sensing element located along the circular path between one pair of circumferentially adjacent coils. A pair of generally cup shaped housing halves of similar configuration are assembled on opposite sides of the rotor and the pair of identical stator component sub-assemblies for encasing the rotor and said stator component sub-assemblies therein.

  • Patent number: 4578606
Abstract: A brushless, self-commutating DC motor including a tachogenerator for producing speed control signals, the motor having a cup-shaped housing fixed to an output shaft and carrying a cylindrical annular permanent magnet. The motor also includes a stator assembly having six rotor drive coils paired to provide a three phase driving coil system and a tachogenerator yoke and coil assembly forming part of the stator system. The rotor magnet has two tracks of multipolarization formed of an outer track of a plurality of driving magnetic poles and an inner track of tachogenerator magnetic poles of a greater number than the driving poles.
