  • Patent number: 3942316
Abstract: A casing for an electronic watch whose movement is powered by one or more miniature battery cells. The casing has a generally rectangular form and a back opening surrounded by a flange. The casing is divided into two sections, one of which is occupied by the movement or electronic module and the other by the power cells. The back of the casing is enclosed by two adjoining hatch pieces, one covering the movement section and the other the power section. The opposing ends of the two hatch pieces are provided with lips which fit under the flange of the casing whereas the adjoining ends of the pieces have complementary grooves formed therein to define a bore for receiving a removable locking pin.

  • Patent number: 3937002
Abstract: An arm-actuated switch for a solid-state electronic watch having an electro-optic display. To conserve battery power, the display is normally quiescent and is momentarily turned on by the switch only when the wearer of the watch moves his arm in a particular way. The switch includes a pair of spaced contacts which when interconnected close the circuit. Such interconnection is effected by a shorting bridge formed by a pair of flexible tines which normally occupy positions adjacent to but out of touch with the contacts, the tines being flexed into engagement with the contacts by a pair of swingable mallets that are caused to swing and strike the tines only if the arm is moved in a predetermined manner.

  • Patent number: 3935700
Abstract: A selective switching mechanism for an electronic watch having a four digit electro-optic display, the mechanism having three operative positions. In the first switching position, the display is that of hours and minutes and requires for its full scale all four digits. In the second position, the display is that of seconds and requires for its full scale two of the four digits, and in the third position the display is calendar date and requires for its full scale two of the four digits. The switching mechanism is operated by a crown and stem assembly which occupies the first position when depressed part way, and which occupies the second position when fully depressed. The third position is occupied by pulling out the crown. Thus all three switching positions are attained by operation of a single actuating element.
