  • Publication number: 20090223366
Abstract: A method of separating/purifying a gas mixture (M), includes a step consisting in capturing at least one gas which can generate anionic species by dissolution in aqueous phase. The invention is characterised in that it also includes the following steps consisting in: suspending an absorbent product in the aforementioned aqueous phase, the absorbent product consisting of a lamellar double hydroxide or a mixed oxide which is believed to be amorphous and which originates from the moderate heat treatment of lamellar double hydroxides having an affinity for the above-mentioned gas; distributing the gas mixture (M) in the aqueous phase; and recovering the adsorbate from the absorbent product in suspension.

  • Patent number: 4576717
Abstract: Process for denitrifying subterranean waters to make them potable. The sub-soil is employed as an infiltration site. Wells (3,4), for example four in number, surround a catchment well (5). The wells (3,4) are filled with a mixture based on straw and marl, to permit the denitrification reaction by a heterotrophic route by virtue of the bacteria present in the sub-soil and particularly in the subterranean waters. The denitrified water arrives at the catchment site (5) where it is withdrawn for the distribution (at 7) and for injection (8,9) into the infiltration sites (3,4). A simple, effective and inexpensive process is thus available for making potable the waters from subterranean tables.

  • Patent number: 4442353
Abstract: Continuous monitoring of variations in the concentrations of individual components in gaseous mixtures such as, more particularly, gases released from volcanic vents, is achieved in the field with consistently high precision, namely about 2 ppm, over extended periods of time, while the time lag for detecting a variation is minimized. On-site measurements are made with a portable apparatus, comprising a sampling probe from which the gas is led to an expansion enclosure maintained at a regulated pressure of about 10.sup.-2 to 10.sup.-1 millibar. From this enclosure, the gas is metered by means of a piezoelectric valve into the analyzing chamber of a quadrupole mass-spectrometer. Several units operating in the field, directly over the volcanic vents, may be connected to a central data processing station, so as to derive useful correlations for predicting future volcanic activity, for monitoring geothermal sources, and for detecting gas-release anomalies for purposes of geophysical exploration.

  • Patent number: 4425229
Abstract: Process for treating by reverse flotation phosphate ores of the carbonate or silico-carbonate gangue type. It includes the steps of:(1) conditioning of the ore in a manner known per se with a product acting to depress the phosphate compounds,(2) treatment of the conditioned ore step (1) with a collector essentially comprising a phosphoric ester,(3) flotation of the carbonates, this leading to a flotation residue which contains the phosphate compounds and, if so required, in the case where the starting compound is of the silico-carbonate gangue type,(4) conditioning of said flotation residue by a cationic collector, the possibly present silicates being thus separated by flotation. The process permits benification of the phosphate ores by a treatment wholly carried out in sea-water.

  • Patent number: 4389020
Abstract: A rotary screen device for sorting refuse material particularly adapted for sorting a mixture of glass and plastics material. The device is generally cylindrical in shape, inclined at a preferred angle to the horizontal, and having three sections, an intake end, a central portion, and an output end. Transverse vanes are arranged in the input end to direct the incoming refuse material towards the central section. The central section includes plural longitudinal vanes which are connected at one end with the transverse vanes in the inlet end and is provided with a uniform distribution of perforations in the regions between the vanes. The outlet end includes no vanes but is provided with peripheral evacuating holes having their largest dimension in a direction perpendicular to the generatrices so that there is no risk of rotating a plastic bottle which could have the effect of an impeller which would drive pieces of glass out of a collection hopper provided below the central section and outlet end.

  • Patent number: 4334429
Abstract: The invention makes it possible to determine impressions independently of a core cutting machine.A hooking device makes it possible to lower the assembly by a simple cable owing to the provision for an additional mass. The position of the eccentric is ascertained by the penetration of pointed rods into a disc under the pressure of one or more of several feelers which releases the rod carrier. The device may be used for the precise determination of the line of greatest slope relative to the impressions even for inclines varying from the vertical by less than 10.degree..

  • Patent number: 4108549
Abstract: The claimed reproduction procedure avoids the use of as many masks as there are degrees of shading for each primary color. For each primary color, only a single mask capable of being stripped and not painted in gouache is used. This mask serves as the mask assignable to the most densely shaded areas, and then upon stripping, as each of the masks assignable to the less densely shaded areas and so on to the weakest density. The mask acts as a photomask for a film which is underexposed for each degree of shading desired bymeans of a single screen. The invention is applicable to the reproduction of all documents using a number of shades of color.
