Abstract: A computer readable medium includes executable instructions to facilitate an instant messaging conversation between a first computer and a second computer on a network. A first request for a report specified by the user of the first computer is processed. A first portion of the report is returned to a first output device of the first computer and a second output device of the second computer. An interaction signal characterizing an interaction with the first portion of the report is processed to produce a second portion of the report. The second portion of the report is routed to the first output device of the first computer and the second output device of the second computer.
Abstract: A computer readable medium with executable instructions to analyze a report value, includes executable instructions to select a report value and identify the formula evaluated to produce the report value. Formal parameters associated with the formula are determined. The actual parameters used to compute the report value are located. The formula, the formal parameters and the actual parameters are then displayed.

Abstract: A computer readable medium includes executable instructions to select a panel layout with panels specified in combination. Interactive graphic files representative of input and output values for panels within the panel layout are selected. The interactive graphic files are associated with panels in the panel layout. A composite interactive graphic file representative of input and output values for the interactive graphic files representative of input and output values that have been associated with the panel layout is generated.

Abstract: A computer readable medium stores computer executable instructions to receive a collection of composite objects. An aggregate dataset that includes a portion of the contents of object instances in the collection of objects is created. The aggregate dataset is passed to a report server. A report that includes data from the aggregate dataset is accepted.
Abstract: A computer readable medium includes executable instructions to identify an alternative selection mode within a graphical user interface. A set of selected items are linked during the alternative selection mode in response to single input action selection of each item.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner includes executable instructions to: generate a data series characterizing data values; identify any unreliable pattern present in the data series; and determine if a forecast should be made for the unreliable pattern.
Abstract: A computer readable medium includes executable instructions to identify that a first graphical user interface window is displayed in front of a second graphical user interface window. Executable instructions identify when a user is copying or moving an item from the first graphical user interface window. The transparency of the first graphical user interface window is then altered.
Abstract: A computer readable medium stores executable instructions to specify a report with a report field for displaying information. An assessment of information that will be potentially displayed in the report field is performed. The report field is sized in accordance with the assessment.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner includes executable instructions to: create a data table characterizing data values; standardize changes between data values to produce standardized values; and apply a weighting factor to the standardized values to produce a data change index.
Abstract: A computer readable medium stores executable instructions to define a hybrid slowly changing dimension table; establish vertical hierarchy tables from the hybrid slowly changing dimension table; query a first vertical hierarchy table to produce first results characterizing current hierarchical relationships; and query a second vertical hierarchy table to produce second results characterizing historical hierarchical relationships.
Abstract: A computer readable medium is configured to receive a query, to map the query to an unstructured data source, to dispatch a request based on the query to the unstructured data source, to aggregate data returned by the unstructured data source in a structured data store, and to issue the query against the structured data store.

Abstract: A computer readable medium with executable instructions, includes instructions to process metadata associated with a set of report templates. A subset of report templates is selected from the set of report templates using the metadata. The subset of report templates maximizes a reporting objective subject to a selection rule as specified by the metadata. The subset of report templates is returned.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner includes executable instructions to construct a control chart containing business data values and defined control limits. A forecast is then made for the control chart and the results of the forecast are then specified.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner includes executable instructions to construct a control chart containing business data values and control limits that account for the inherent uncertainty associated with defining precise alert thresholds. A forecast is then made for the control chart and the results of the forecast are then specified.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium is configured to receive a report processing request at a hierarchical report processor. The hierarchical report processor includes a parent process and at least one child process executing on a single processing unit, and is configured to process the report processing request as a task on the single processing unit.
Abstract: A computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner includes executable instructions to construct a strategy map characterizing a presumed causal link between a first business metric and a second business metric. A first pattern within data associated with the first business metric is identified; a second pattern within data associated with the second business metric is located. Any relationship between the first pattern and the second pattern is specified.
Abstract: A computer readable medium comprises executable instructions to form a list of parameters for a report. The list of parameters is compared to existing lists of parameters. A selected list of parameters is designated. A report is generated with the selected list of parameters.
Abstract: A computer readable medium includes executable instructions to create a first export file that defines attributes and relationships associated with a first business intelligence object. A second export file that characterizes a second business intelligence object associated with the first business intelligence object is formed. The first export file and the second export file are combined into a composite export entity. The composite export entity is distributed.
Abstract: A computer readable medium with executable instructions to receive a job and correlate a data store with each data source associated with the job. A first configuration profile is associated with the data store. A second configuration profile is specified for the data store. Dependent flows are identified. The dependent flow is updated to include additional configuration information derived from the second configuration profile.
