  • Patent number: 6158182
Abstract: An improved building curtain wall, including improved apparatus and methods for assembling and anchoring curtain walls, are disclosed. The curtain wall, apparatus, and methods each utilize a structural member having a first section for supporting a panel member, and a second section for securing to a fixed structure. The second section has a base and a first hole formed through the base. The curtain wall, apparatus, and methods also each utilize an anchor member, received within the second section, and having a second hole formed therethrough. The present invention eliminates labor intensive and error prone steps in the installation of a curtain wall; reduces the material costs of the curtain wall; and allows the current wall to be used in high stress applications such as hurricane force winds.

  • Patent number: 5584147
Abstract: A freeze-resistant downspout system includes a metal downspout having an interior portion within a building and a contiguous exterior portion outside the building. The exterior portion is shielded from the weather by a thermally insulated shroud so that heat conducted along the downspout from within the building is sufficient to keep the exterior portion from freezing.

  • Patent number: 4986045
Abstract: A cellular raceway constructed of roll formed pieces all welded together including a base member, an upper member, and a barrier. The base member has a center section and outboard sections with ribs respectively connecting the center section to the outboard sections. The upper member has a center section disposed over the base center section, outboard sections respectively disposed over the base outboard sections together with outboard walls extending toward and welded to the base outboard sections. The barrier may comprise angle pieces or a hat-shaped piece. The barrier provides electrical separation for the forming of power and communication cells.

  • Patent number: 4644717
Abstract: A curtain wall drainage system for horizontal mullions comprising a flexible, conforming flap member disposed in flush engagement against a weep hole formed in the mullion. The flap permits egress of water infiltrated therein while preventing infusion of water or air turbulence within the mullion from wind loading against the curtain wall. An upper portion of the flap member secured to the outer weep hole surface for permitting pivotal movement therefrom and the passage of water through the weep hole and beneath the flap member. The flap member is constructed of sufficiently resilient and conforming material to permit the presence of a stream of water beneath the flap member from the weep hole to the lower end portion thereof and the creation of a capillary action therein for urging water contained within the mullion downwardly beneath the flap member for discharge from the curtain wall structure.

  • Patent number: 4295575
Abstract: The box has a base for mounting on a surface and a cover secured to the base by screws. A pair of tabs are disposed close to the base end of the cover and each tab captivates a screw. Assembly of cover to base is simplified because the cover can be held in one hand while a screw driver in the other hand turns the screws. Inventory is reduced because a single length of screw is employed irrespective of box depth.
