Patent number: 4406875Abstract: Disclosed are radiolabeled amine compounds, methods for preparing these compounds, diagnostic compositions containing the radiolabeled amine compounds and methods for using these compositions in conducting radiodiagnostic examinations for determining the location and extent of an occurring blood clot in the body of a warm-blooded animal such as a human. The radiolabeled amine compounds of the present invention have the general formula:Y--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --X--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --NH.sub.2wherein X is selected from the group consisting of oxygen; sulfur; lower alkylene, radioactive selenium; and radioactive tellurium, Y is a hydrocarbyl amino group, and when X is oxygen, sulfur or lower alkylene, Y is a radioactive iodine-substituted hydrocarbyl amino group. Also disclosed are pharmaceutically-acceptable, acid addition salts of the above radiolabeled amine compounds.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1980Date of Patent: September 27, 1983Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventors: Rudolf B. Patent number: 4387303Abstract: Disclosed is a radioisotope generator useful in the process of eluting a daughter radioisotope from an adsorbed parent radioisotope. The radioisotope generator comprises a column containing carrier material adapted to adsorb the parent radioisotope and including an inlet opening and an outlet opening. The outlet opening of the column is connected to a tapping point on the generator by an eluate conduit, the tapping point adapted to receive an evaluated elution vial so that a liquid eluate containing the daughter radioisotope can be obtained from the generator under vacuum. The generator further includes a device for interrupting the elution process before the elution vial is entirely filled while simultaneously exposing the generator to sterile air both in the direction of the generator column and of the elution vial.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1980Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Harm M. Benjamins

Patent number: 4360509Abstract: There is disclosed an in vivo radioassay process in which a radioactive chelate of indium and an 8-hydroxyquinoline is introduced into a warmblooded animal having an inflammatory reaction in an area in which the chelate would not accumulate to the same extent if the inflammation were not present. The chelate gathers in the inflamed area, for instance, in a body abscess, or other injury, and its location is determined by radio surveying the body by an external imaging technique.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1979Date of Patent: November 23, 1982Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Wilhelmus T. Goedemans

Patent number: 4348375Abstract: There are disclosed aqueous, radioassaying solutions of a chelate of radioactive indium and an 8-hydroxyquinoline, having an essential absence of an organic solvent, e.g., alcohol or chloroform. The solutions are useful in radioassaying warmblooded animals.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1979Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Wilhelmus T. Goedemans

Patent number: 4286169Abstract: A shield or screening device for radio-isotope producing generator including a moveable portion which can be moved relative to a stationary portion between a closed position to cover the generator and an open position to allow the generator to be inserted or withdrawn from the shielding device. The interaction of these two portions minimizes space required to use and shield the generator. Each portion is configured to effect relative rotative movement so that the moveable portion can be rotated concentrically within the circumference of the stationary portion. The generator can be inserted through the openings defined by the adjacent moveable and stationary portions in the open position. Once the generator is in place, the moveable portion is simply rotated to the closed position where the generator is substantially completely enclosed by the stationary and moveable portions of the shield.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1979Date of Patent: August 25, 1981Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Hendrik V. Rossem

Patent number: 4278167Abstract: A package for radiopharmaceutical compositions is provided, which package consists essentially of a labelled glass vial around which a transparent holder is secured. Preferably, the transparent holder also has a label and is detachably secured to the composition-containing vial.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1979Date of Patent: July 14, 1981Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Hendrik van Rossem

Patent number: 4271141Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method for determining the thyroid function by means of an in vitro test using blood serum. Such a method involves an improvement of the procedure whereby (a) a patient's blood serum sample is mixed with a solution containing radioactive thyroxine and with a compound that liberates thyroxine from thyroxine-binding globulin; (b) the test mixture is buffered to achieve proper conditions for carrying out a thyroxine-binding immunoreaction; (c) an antiserum is added to provide antibodies which bind a portion of the thyroxine present by means of such a thyroxine-binding immunoreaction; (d) unbound thyroxine is thereafter separated from the antibody-bound thyroxine; and (e) the relative quantities of bound and unbound thyroxine are then determined by measurement of radioactivity.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1978Date of Patent: June 2, 1981Assignee: Byk-Mallinckrodt CIL B.V.Inventor: Wilhelmus T.
