  • Patent number: 5405178
Abstract: A seat for use in a vehicle is disclosed which is flame resistant. The seat comprises a foam plastic cushion having an supporting member of open cell resilient foam, an intermediate layer of high temperature-resistant threads forming a network, and a flame-proof layer of an open-cell resilient foam impregnated with a liquid flame proofing agent. The supporting member and the intermediate layer are bonded by an adhesive. A flame-resistant upholstery material covers the seat surface. A facing layer of flame-proof fabric is applied to the supporting member on the underside of the cushion.

  • Patent number: 5294011
Abstract: The open end of a cylindrical housing which may be an evacuable housing, for example a tube for storing blood samples, is closed by means of a cap having an annular wall surrounding the open end of the housing and a seal extending into the cap and the housing. For secure sealing of the housing, the cap is connected by means of a coupling device either to the seal or to the housing or both of these.

  • Patent number: 4664274
Abstract: A blood-sampling tube assembly comprises a cap fitted onto the open end of a blood-sampling tube and having inner and outer walls between which the walls of the tube is snugly received. According to the invention, the cap is formed with an outwardly open and upwardly open compartment containing a self sealing membrane pierceable by a needle and held in place by a laminate, e.g. aluminum foil and a heat sealing layer, bonded to an end wall of the cap bridging the inner and outer walls and closing the membrane within the compartment.

  • Patent number: 4652429
Abstract: A blood sampling tube preferably of glass is formed with a hermetic closure which is applied by press fitting and can be pulled off the tube. The closure has an annular cap in which the needle-pierceable membrane is secured and whose inner and outer walls flank the walls of the tube to the mouth of the cap, an annular portion of the membrane being compressed between the inner cap wall and the inner surface of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4333478
Abstract: A blood extraction instrument is provided with an adjustably rotatable connector for a double-ended hollow needle which is offset mounted through the closed end of the cylindrical body of the instrument. The end of the double-ended hollow needle which extends into the instrument pierces a membrane on the end of a blood sample tube which is retained thereon by means of a screw-on cap. The other end of the double-ended hollow needle, which is on the exterior of the instrument, is for insertion into a blood vessel, that is a vein, of a patient. This end is provided with an obliquely cut point. In accordance with the adjustably rotatable connector, the orientation of the flat surface of the needle point which penetrates the patient may be readily adjusted. The instrument is also provided with a retaining tongue formed by a slot in the cylindrical wall of the instrument for providing a retaining means against the back side of the screw-on cap to retain the blood sample tube in the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4327746
Abstract: A blood extraction device includes a hollow, cylindrical receptacle which is open at one end with a double-ended hollow needle at its other end, into which an evacuated blood sample tube is inserted. The blood sample tube is closed by means of a screw-attachment cap, whereby the cap retains a sealing membrane against the blood sample tube in order to close it tightly. A device for evacuation of blood sample tubes is provided. A second needle may be provided at the closed end of the receptacle, via which needle the inserted blood sample tube may be connected with a suction line, which is formed, in one embodiment, by a compressible elastic balloon and a valve.

  • Patent number: 4314030
Abstract: A test tube for the examination of samples, especially of urine samples, in clinical environment for the amount of a given ingredient in the sample, by contacting the sample with a first reagent that reacts with the ingredient in a reaction in which hydrogen peroxide is formed, and with a second reagent which, in cooperation with the so formed hydrogen peroxide, causes an indicator dye to change its color for indicating the amount of the ingredient in the sample, comprises catalase and oxidase contained in at least one layer on at least a part of the inner surface of the test tube, and a solid substance that releases oxygen under the influence of the catalase in the interior of the test tube, the oxidase acting to cause oxidation by the released oxygen of any other ingredient (such as ascorbic acid) of the sample (such as urine sample) which would otherwise react with the formed hydrogen peroxide and thus deleteriously influence the indicator dye color change.
