Patents Assigned to C. A. Weidmuller KG
  • Patent number: 4340270
Abstract: An electrical terminal unit, of the rail-mounted type, has terminals consisting of metal cntact parts with slots, and movable actuating members of insulating material provided with heads designed to receive and to entrain insulated conductors. The heads of the actuating members can be moved relative to the slotted contact parts so as to bring the inserted conductors into the slots, so that the slot edges cut the insulation and make contact with the conductor cores, and the connections can be broken by moving the actuating members away from the contact parts, thereby entraining the conductors and pulling these clear of the contact parts.

  • Patent number: 4270835
Abstract: A clip-on electrical terminal block has an earth terminal which grips one flange of a channel-section support rail with outwardly turned flanges. To prevent the earth terminal from drifting in the case of a flange of tapered cross section, a clamping member of the flange not only engages the underside of the flange but also has an inner arm which engages the internal surface of the channel-section rail. A single clamping screw clamps together the earth conductor, the clamping member of the terminal, and the flange of the support rail, by means of a lower arm of the clamping member. To facilitate access to the clamping screw in the case of a terminal block with stacked terminals, the region of the terminal block housing containing the earth terminal may be laterally offset.

  • Patent number: 4258972
Abstract: An electrical connector has a screw-clamping sleeve electrically connected to and aligned with a plug socket in an injection-molded plastic housing. To prevent a conductor inserted in the clamping sleeve from entering the socket, the housing contains an integrally molded partition which in the as-molded state extends obliquely into the recess of the housing that will accommodate the clamping sleeve. In this condition the socket can be inserted past the partition into a corresponding aperture, but the clamping sleeve when inserted bends the partition to a position between the clamping sleeve and the socket.

  • Patent number: 4253629
Abstract: A guiding and marking member for electric cables has a plurality of resiliently deformable wings on one side of a support plate and their ends converge in V configuration to define a cable holder adjacent to the plate and an insertion slit spaced from the plate which merges into the cable holder. The cable holder wing ends lightly grip the inserted cable. On its other side the support plate has latching receptacles into which marking plates are detachably latched.

  • Patent number: 4239324
Abstract: An electrical terminal block for a printed circuit has upper and lower rows of terminals in a stepped configuration, the terminals in the upper row being laterally offset relative to those in the lower row by half the width of a terminal. The front edges of the upper row terminals rest on the terminals of a bottom row, and retaining plates are provided at the ends of the rows. The terminals are all of the same type. If only a single lower row is provided the rear of the upper row can be supported on a supporting wall. Alternatively a second lower row can be provided.

  • Patent number: 4236780
Abstract: An electrical multi-way terminal block having pairs of terminal in upper and intermediate regions, each pair being interconnected by a conductive member and being accessible for connection of a conductor. A tool access passage for one of the intermediate region terminals, which is offset into the interior of the block, extends from the upper face of the block transversely past the conductive member interconnecting the upper pair of terminals and is insulated from the latter, avoiding obstruction by a conductor connected to the upper terminals.

  • Patent number: 4234239
Abstract: An earthing terminal for mounting on a support rail having a channel section with outwardly turned flanges comprises a yoke of bent sheet metal with a pair of hooks to fit under the flanges, and a metal clamping member with terminals, disposed between respective side parts of the yoke. The yoke has on each side part a lug, the ends of which are bent over to form flanges in which is threaded a clamping screw which contacts the metal member. By means of the clamping screw, the flanges of the support rail can be clamped between the hooks of the yoke, and adjacent parts of the metal member.

  • Patent number: 4171152
Abstract: An electrical terminal for printed circuits comprises an insulating casing, clamping means and a clamping screw for connection of an external conductor, and a tag projecting from the casing for connection to the printed circuit. The casing has external surfaces parallel respectively to the axis of the clamping screw and the direction of insertion of an external conductor, normally at right angles, and an intervening oblique surface through which the tag projects. By fitting alternative tag members the terminal can be mounted to the printed circuit in different positions.

  • Patent number: 4149766
Abstract: A screwless electrical terminal unit comprises a pair of parallel channels for receiving respective conductors, with the open sides of the channels facing one another. Between the channels is mounted a W-shaped leaf spring with its central bend mounted on a retaining member, each outer bend adjoining an abutment between the outer bends to limit movement of the latter, and the free limbs extending obliquely towards respective channels for clamping conductors therein. Such an arrangement ensures that manipulation of one limb of the spring has no effect on the clamping of a conductor by the other limb. A rocker member may be provided for selectively moving the free limbs from their conductor-clamping positions.

  • Patent number: 4112791
Abstract: A plier-like tool for stripping insulaton from sheathed cables or wires has an elongate body terminating at a front end in a first gripping jaw and at a rear end in a first shank toward which a second shank, forming part of a handle pivoted to the body, is movable to clamp the end of a cable between the first gripping jaw and a coacting second gripping jaw also pivoted to the body. The second gripping jaw is controlled by the handle via a camming mechanism which also displaces a link member along the body, that link member being rigid with a first stripping jaw and being articulated to a second stripping jaw and being articulated of the two gripping jaws for pulling insulation off the clamped cable end.
