Abstract: A kit for colonic cleansing includes a phosphate salt laxative, a flavorant, and an oral rehydration mixture. The flavorant includes aspartame and a citrate, and the oral rehydration mixture includes sodium and a glucose containing saccharide. The kit may be used for a colonic cleansing procedure by combining the phosphate salt laxative and the flavorant to provide a flavored laxative liquid, orally administering to a subject the flavored laxative liquid, and orally administering to the subject an oral rehydration liquid.
Abstract: A method of colonic cleansing that includes administering orally a first dose and a second dose of a liquid osmotic colonic evacuant composition. The second dose includes an amount of the liquid osmotic colonic evacuant composition that is 55% to 95% of the amount of the first dose.
Abstract: An oral rehydration mixture (ORM) may include from 47 to 75 wt % of a glucose containing saccharide, from 6 to 13 wt % sodium chloride, from 6.5 to 19 wt % potassium chloride, from 2 to 5 wt % sodium citrate, from 10 to 16 wt % citric acid, and from 0.3 to 0.5 wt % of a chlorinated sucrose isomer. The ORM may be combined with water to provide an oral rehydration solution (ORS). A method of treating dehydration may include administering to a subject the ORS.
Abstract: A disposable douche for dispensing fluids contained therein including a collapsible container, a sealing closure, a nozzle assembly having a passageway communicating with the interior of the container for dispensing the contents of the container, a portion of the nozzle being retractable into the interior of the container to a storage position and being extendable to a use position, seals between the nozzle and the closure and between the closure and the container for preventing leakage from the container, a sleeve valve mounted on the nozzle for controlling the flow of fluids from the container through the nozzle, abutments on the closure and sleeve valve for opening the sleeve valve when the nozzle is extended from the retracted to the use position.
