Patents Assigned to C. Conradty
  • Patent number: 4022679
Abstract: The anode is particularly designed for use at anodic densities D.sub.A greater than 10 kA/m.sup.2, and comprises substantially horizontally extending coated anode segments having a clear spacing of at least 1.5 mm from each other and upwardly extending lateral surfaces. Each segment has an active coated part higher than 5 mm and not exceeding 20 mm, measured from the horizontal undersurface of the anode. The actual active surface of the parts, up to heights of 5 mm, 7.5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm, respectively, exceeds at least 2.5, 3.33, 4 and 4.7 times, respectively, the projected anode area which latter is the total area bounded by the periphery of the anode. At least half the actual active surface extends upwardly relative to the horizontal base area of the anode.

  • Patent number: 4003808
Abstract: A method for regulating and controlling the anode current and for avoiding short-circuits between the adjustable anodes and the cathode of an electrolysis cell, wherein by means of an apparatus controlled by a field plate (magnetically controllable resistance), a magnetic diode or a magnetic transistor as sensor, the electrical resistance of which constitutes a measure for the current flowing to an anode or an anode group and, thus, having a nominal value of the resistance for a nominal value of the current, in case there is a deviation of the current from the nominal value the deviation of the electrical resistance of the sensor from the nominal value serves to reset the electrical resistance of the sensor and, thus, also the current of the anode or anode group to the nominal value by adjusting the anode or anode group.

  • Patent number: 3992280
Abstract: A metal electrode with an active cover layer for electrochemical purposes which cover layer includes metal platinates, metal palladates, or the like, and metal palladates and comprises, as embedding substances compounds of the type Ba (M.sub.x Ti.sub.1.sub.-x)O.sub.3 where M is a platinum metal. The latter may be used alone or in combination with other additives and does not impair on the one hand the effectiveness of the active materials and is on the other hand, when exposed to an electrolytic bath, location in chemically resistant without showing complete inactivity and, thus, increase the current yield of the anode.

  • Patent number: 3991158
Abstract: Preparation and use of a new electrochemical active substance for the cover layer of metal anodes, which substance is thallium palladate and is obtained as a cardinal-red compound, which is cubic-face-centered, sufficiently characterized in pure crystalline form and, thus, constitutes a new electrochemical active substance for the cover layer of metal anodes.

  • Patent number: 3948752
Abstract: An electrode for electrochemical processes, particularly for the electrolysis processes for manufacturing chlorine, consisting of a metal resistant to the electrolysis medium and of an active cover layer applied thereon and containing the substances causing the electrode process, which substances are compounds of the typePt.sub.x M.sub.y M.sub.z O.sub.2, Pd.sub.x M.sub.y M.sub.z O.sub.2being of rhombohedral crystal structure, and of the typeA.sub.x Pt.sub.3 O.sub.4, A.sub.x Pd.sub.3 O.sub.4which in connection with the other compounds can be regarded as Perowskistructure. On account of the marked non-stoichiometry proper to these compounds, excess electrons occur, resulting in the low electrical resistance which is characteristic for said compounds and which is in the same range as that of some of the metals.
