Abstract: A power integrated articulated inner spring-mattress having a lower inner spring-like section and an upper articulated mattress section, with the lower section having all the power drive components self-contained on wooden supports surrounded by a resilient safety and appearance portion, and the upper section is easily removably mounted on the lower section wood supports.

Abstract: An improved articulated bed with linearly retractable head and foot sections for easier shipment in a relatively small container that may be assembled by the purchaser without any tools. The bed includes a central frame with telescopic head and foot sections that linearly retract into the central frame. The central frame houses the head and foot drive motors, linear actuators, and rocker shafts that pivot mattress support panels upwardly from the extended frame.

Abstract: An articulated bed having a modified standard bed frame that supports an independent power module, replaceable without disassembly from the frame. The modified frame is the well known horizontally collapsible angle iron frame type with castered legs. The frame includes a pair of side rails each having head and foot rail portions pivotally connected at their ends for packing and shipping, that interengaged one another when assembled in the home. The modification in the frame is that the side rails are inverted and the legs are somewhat lengthened to accommodate the power module. After the frame is assembled in the home, a pair of "U" shaped cross members is attached across the frame and the power module fixed to the tops of the cross members. Then a folded for shipping mattress support assembly is unfolded and attached to the top of the frame over the power module.

Abstract: A linear drive for articulated furniture having pre-determined extended and retracted positions. These devices heretofore have been designed to be adjustable, but customer adjustment frequently causes costly damage to the drive and furniture. The drive includes a motor-driven rotary screw and a cooperating nut carrying drive tube which is rotationally fixed to a drive housing to prevent customer adjustment.

Abstract: A two stage seal for a shut-off valve having a bonnet with a rotatable valve stem therethrough. The first seal is conventional packing material axially compressible to adjust its sealing force against the valve stem. The second is a cartridge seal gland with inner and outer "O" rings axially biased against the packing material by a packing nut threaded in the bonnet.

Abstract: An elevator chair for assisting entry and exit including a vertically telescopic back frame raised and lowered by a motor driven vertical threaded screw and tube assembly. The back frame raises and lowers a rear portion of a seat and movement of the front of the seat is controlled by forward links that are positioned to raise the forward portion of the seat as the chair lifts.

Abstract: A transportable and foldable articulated bed with a non-positively driven articulated mattress platform that reduces the risk of injury and permits the bed to be folded for transport without disconnecting platform drive systems. The mattress platform is articulated on a foldable frame consisting of a head section hinged to a foot section. A pair of retractable caster assemblies can be swiveled 270 degrees from a storage position mounted on the head frame section and connected to the foot frame section with both sections aligned to a position where it can also be connected to both sections when the bed is folded so it can be rolled about.
