  • Patent number: 4946146
Abstract: In a holding device with a receiving part held on a holder by means of a linear and/or rotary guide means, in particular, for tools for industrial robots, wherein the motion of the receiving part relative to the holder can be damped by means of a restoring damping element which can be subjected to tensile and shear stresses, in order to provide by virtue of a simple arrangement both damping of the motion of the receiving part relative to the holder and a restoring force which ensures reliable maintenance of the middle position, it is proposed that the damping element be arranged so as to be structurally separate from the guide means for the linear and/or rotary motion and that deflection forces acting upon the damping element during motion of the receiving part relative to the holder be exerted essentially perpendicular to its direction of tension.

  • Patent number: 4920702
Abstract: Grinding with known grinders such as corner, belt or vibratory grinders poses insoluble problems, such as the grinding of inner edges set at an angle to each other for example in retainer strips of window and door glasses. A portable grinder has thus been developed in which the grinding or sanding tool (3, 20, 30) effects an oscillatory movement which, unlike in the state of the art, is effected around a fixed axis of the apparatus (29) with a minimum pivoting angle, preferably between 0.5.degree. and with a high pivoting frequency of between ten thousand and twenty five thousand vibrations per minute. This different oscillation movement makes it possible to provide the grinding or sending tool with almost any shape. Furthermore, grinding does not inevitably have to be made with the transverse surface of the tool (3), in particular the perpendicular surface, in relation to the diametrical axis (29) but it is also possible to use a surface which is almost parallel to the first or is even arched.

  • Patent number: 4779382
Abstract: A mechanism for mounting a sanding disk to the spindle of a portable right-angled grinder that will allow the connection to be released without extra tools. The mechanism consists essentially of a hollow spindle (18), of a tensioning anchor (22) that is accommodated inside the spindle (18) such that it can slide back and forth axially subject to an activating mechanism (54) but cannot rotate, and of two flanges that accommodate the sanding disk (28) between them, one of which, a mating flange that constitutes a support (20), is rigidly secured to the spindle, and the other of which, the tensioning flange (26), is loosely secured to the tensioning anchor (22). Between mutually facing demarcating surfaces (34 & 36) of the tensioning anchor (22) and the spindle (18) is a space (39) that communicates with another space (44) in the tensioning anchor (22). The spaces (39 & 44) are full of a plastic material (40) that can transmit force hydraulically.

  • Patent number: 4758754
Abstract: In motor-operated machines, especially portable electric tools, it is essential to prevent an impermissibly high torque on the driveshaft or operating spindle. This is attained by means of a torque-disengagement mechanism. An especially elegant, compact, precisely responsive torque-disengagement mechanism is attained by mounting one of the two bearings for a driveshaft in the machine housing or similar structure in such a way that it can move across the longitudinal axis or radially far enough to initiate a switching procedure. The bearing is secured in an initial position by means of an opposing force. The position represents both the zero position for the switching procedure and the correct position of the axis of the driveshaft during operation. If the machine includes a means of varying the torque, the power of the opposing force can be adjusted and maintained either continuously or discontinuously.

  • Patent number: 4621854
Abstract: A device for changing tools, pick-ups, welding torches, and other implements that can be handled by industrial robots. It consists of an upper and lower part. In order to obtain optimal cost effectiveness a linear drive mechanism guides a hook-shaped structure in the upper part along a guide in such a way that the structure initially carries out a curved motion essentially perpendicular to the linear closing or opening motion during the closure process. The curved motion is appropriate for making the bottom of the device engage an associated implement even when the latter is stored in an imprecise position. The structure then carries out a strictly linear motion during which the upper part and lower part are exactly aligned by guides integrated into the device and by guide bevels even in the presence of counteracting forces. A motion that can be made as precise as desired can be executed to obtain a closed and mechanically prescribable final position.
