  • Patent number: 4462577
Abstract: A vacuum furnace having a heating chamber for heat treating work parts under vacuum therein, and a cooling chamber located adjacent to the heating chamber for receiving the heat treated work parts for the rapid cooling thereof, the work parts being rapidly cooled in the cooling chamber by the circulation of a cooling gas therein, a high-velocity fan being provided in the cooling chamber for the rapid circulation of the cooling gas over the work parts, heat transfer means located in the cooling chamber and over which the cooling gas is circulated for withdrawing heat therefrom after the passage of the gas over the work parts, and a unique door arrangement being located in the cooling chamber to insure the sealing of the cooling chamber both during the evacuation thereof upon transfer of the work parts thereto and during the cooling cycle therein, whereby in the cooling cycle the pressurized cooling gas within the cooling chamber acts to seal an inner door so that the use of exterior clamps and/or locks for sea

  • Patent number: 4118016
Abstract: A vacuum furnace in which work loads are periodically introduced and processed therein without breaking the vacuum within the furnace heating chamber and including spaced door assemblies between which chambers are defined for effectively isolating the work loads during the introduction and discharge therefrom, the apparatus further including transfer mechanisms that are sequentially operated in timed relation with the door assemblies and in accordance with the heat treating cycle of the furnace for moving work loads through the various stations in the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4102712
Abstract: The headlamp tilting mechanism is provided in a motor vehicle in which a pair of headlamps are tiltable relative to the motor vehicle body. The headlamp tilting mechanism includes a hydro-mechanical transducer which is fed with hydraulic signals corresponding to changes in the attitude of the vehicle body under changing load and acceleration and braking forces. The transducer has an output rod slidable in bushes relative to the body and is connected with a lever which extends substantially parallel to the rod by means of a link which is pivoted at its ends to the lever and rod respectively. One end of the lever is pivoted to the body while the other end is connected through the intermediary of a further link with the respective headlamp. The arrangement described above permits ready tilting movement of the headlamp upon sliding movement of the output rod but does not permit sliding movement of the rod as a result of external pressures applied to the headlamp.
