    Abstract: A safe locking mechanism has an engagement element movable from a disengaged position to an engageable position in response to a small amount of electrical power. When in its engageable position a mechanical linkage assembly is driven by the engagement element to unlock a lock-bolt. The mechanical linkage assembly includes a low inertia pivoting cam which interacts with a lock lever of the locking mechanism to move it to an unlocking state. Electrical power is generated solely while the user manually inputs a combination code, and a microprocessor controls storage and delivery of this power to put the engagement element into its engageable position. Once the desired engagement is obtained, the lock-bolt is moved from its locking to its unlocking position manually. Subsequent unlocking requires another entry of the code input.

    Abstract: A rotary vane internal combustion engine wherein the section of the rotor housing where ignition takes place is formed in the shape of a circular arc matching the curvature of the rotor, with the balance of the housing periphery being composed of a series of tangent arcs to define an elliptical shape that is continuously concave and has no drastic changes in curvature. The rotor and housing are "stretched" along their axial dimensions so that each combustion chamber has an axial measurement substantially greater than its circumferential measurement, and each segment of the rotor surface between adjacent vanes has formed therein a plurality of combustion chamber pockets spaced from one another along the axial dimension of the rotor and each provided with a spark plug.

    Abstract: A tamper indication system for use with combination locks can indicate or signal that unauthorized manipulation of one or more of the lock components has occurred. In one mode, the tamper indication system senses unauthorized retraction of the lock bolt. Unauthorized movement of the lock cover or combination dial can also be sensed. Sensing can be achieved by generating a mechanical action responsive to the unauthorized manipulation and converting the mechanical action into an electrical signal for sensing and indicating. The mechanical action can utilize a snap action motion generation system, non-contact means such as magnets or a spring biased switch.

The lock also includes a security feature to disable the lock if the combination dial is stopped between dial rotations for a period of time which indicates dailing by an automatic dialer.

    Abstract: A combination lock for a safe or the like is provided that is fully computerized and self powered. A rotary dial is connected to a stepper motor/generator to provide the electrical power to a capacitor to power the system. The stepper motor/generator also provides input signals in the form of a code sequence to a microprocessor that processes the signals to initiate the operation of a drive motor to release a lock bolt once the proper combination is dialed. A read only memory (ROM) determines the proper combination from a combination storage means and feeds the combination to the microprocessor for comparison to the inputted signals from the dial. As each combination dialing sequence is begun, a random code initiator provides a different starting position in the sequence so that electronic or visual surveillance equipment cannot be used to surreptitiously obtain the combination.
