Patent number: 8416966Abstract: Provided is method for automatic audio gain modulation and a related apparatus. In order to prevent the unstable signals as continuously increasing or decreasing the gain when the signals hover around an upper threshold, it's featured that the method is to predict the signal intensity as pre-adding a predict gain in a hold time before outputting signals. By determining whether the prediction exceeds a predetermined threshold or not, the suitable and adjustable gains can be obtained without exceeding the predetermined threshold. In the automatic gain control mechanism, it's to decrease the gain gradually as automatically entering an attack time, or to increase the gain gradually as performing a conventional auto-gain control procedure including entering a release time. The claimed method can modulate the gain automatically by predicting the gain, and confine the signals under a threshold. In addition to avoid sawtooth phenomena, the method can stabilize the signals.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: C-Media Electronics Inc.Inventors: An Pang Li, Chih-Lung Chen, Chun Hsien Su

Publication number: 20120045074Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method and apparatus with environmental noise cancellation. The instant disclosure is particularly adapted to a receiver module having at least two inputs. The two inputs respectively receive a main audio portion and the audio with majority of environmental noise. The system firstly calibrates the audio signals to reduce the error caused by the difference between the two inputs. An adaptive beamforming technology and a speech extractor are respectively used to extract the environmental noise portion with less main audio and the main audio portion with less noise. After a process of time-to-frequency domain transformation, a non-linear noise suppression technology is introduced into estimating the environmental noise and acquiring a gain. After noise suppression processed with the gain, a sequence of audio signals is output after a frequency-to-time domain transformation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2011Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: C-MEDIA ELECTRONICS INC.Inventors: YUEPENG LI, FENGHAI QIU, HUA GAO

Patent number: 7701287Abstract: The present invention discloses a voltage detection type overcurrent protection device, which applies to the output stage of a CMOS Class-D audio amplifier. Generally, a Class-D audio amplifier is used to drive a high-load loudspeaker; therefore, it needs a high-current driver. When there is a short circuit in the load, the high current will burn out the driver stage. The present invention detects the output voltage to indirectly monitor whether the output current is too large. Once an overcurrent is detected, the output-stage transistor is turned off to stop high current lest the circuit be burned out.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2008Date of Patent: April 20, 2010

Patent number: 6434634Abstract: A new protocol of a standard game port for interfacing an external HSP modem, and game port devices is disclosed. The invention provides an external HSP modem housed in a compact case which includes a connector for mounting on a PC game port and a connector for coupling to a joystick and a MIDI interface. Inside the case, a bridge module is coupled to a modem module to forward the modem data input in response to a plurality of serial port clocks. The modem data input is then forwarded to an encode/decode module via multiple redefined read-only ports. The encode/decode module is on a sound chip for restoring the modem data input to their original formats. The restored data will be forwarded to a system bus for CPU to access via an HSP modem interface. The signal transmissions for the joystick and the MIDI I/O device are basically the same because the bandwidth of the game port is still enough if the modem, the joystick, and the MIDI I/O device are operated simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1999Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: C-Media Electronics Inc.Inventor: Chi-Chen Cheng
