Patent number: 6566223Abstract: A high voltage integrated switching device includes at least one high voltage switching circuit, preferably employing DMOS technology and characterized by a breakdown voltage of at least 100 volts, on a dielectrically isolated, bonded and vertically trenched silicon substrate. Multiple high-voltage switching circuits may be located in close proximity on a single substrate without circuit breakdown or shorting during circuit operation. The circuit may further include one or more low- and/or intermediate-voltage circuits employing, for example, CMOS and bipolar technologies on the same silicon substrate and located in close proximity without voltage breakdown during circuit operation.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2000Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: C. Patent number: 6226331Abstract: An improved line interface device and an improved xDSL modem for use in connecting data communications equipment to a xDSL line is disclosed. The line interface device provides the required isolation between the xDSL line and the communications equipment using optical isolation or capacitive techniques, as well as provides the power necessary to produce the transmit signal levels required by the communications services by utilizing a switching power supply deriving its power from a source isolated from the line, and including a transformer for isolating the source from the xDSL line. By switching at high frequencies the size of the transformer can be sufficiently small so that the interface device and supply can be provided in accordance with small form factor requirements.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1999Date of Patent: May 1, 2001Assignee: C. Patent number: 6041489Abstract: A method for fabricating a reed relay which includes a magnetically actuated switch and a bobbin. The switch defines an exterior surface and includes two terminals, and the switch provides a relatively low electrical resistance path between the two terminals when closed and provides a relatively high electrical resistance path between the two terminals when open. The bobbin defines an interior surface and an exterior surface, and the bobbin is disposed around the switch so that the bobbin interior surface contacts substantially all of a predetermined portion of the switch exterior surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1997Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: C. Patent number: 6037602Abstract: A solid state photovoltaic generator circuit includes a source of activating radiation, an array of photodiodes responsive to the radiation, a switching device coupled to the photodiode array for responding to an electrical signal therefrom, and a high-impedance resistor which is made of substantially single-crystal silicon and is formed during the formation of the switching device. The fabrication of the circuit is thus significantly simplified and the resistor performance is stable over a wide range of operating temperatures.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: C.P. Patent number: 5946394Abstract: An isolation amplifier circuit with hook switch control includes first and second amplifier stages optically isolated from and coupled to each other. A biasing circuit is optically coupled to the amplifier to provide a switchable prebias to the amplifier to allow the amplifier to process bipolar voltage input signals. A hook switch circuit is coupled to the biasing circuit such that as the bias condition is switched, the hook switch is opened or closed. The same optical coupling circuitry can be used to couple the first and second amplifier stages and to couple the biasing circuit to the hook switch circuit such that savings in circuit space and cost are realized.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1997Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: C. Patent number: 5883556Abstract: A reed switch employs contact blades which have enhanced flexibility and performance, as a result of the selective removal of material from one or more of the blades without work hardening the remaining blade material. The blades are masked and acid etched in predetermined patterns to provide either a contact region, a hinge or fulcrum region, or one or more of both. The contact region of the blade optimizes the alignment and magnetic coupling of the switch while minimizing the electrical capacitance in the space between the blades when the switch is open. The hinge or fulcrum region improves blade compliance and flexibility under an applied load. Various geometries of the contact region can be employed to improve the performance and longevity of the switch.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1997Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Assignee: C.P. Patent number: 5686875Abstract: A switch assembly comprising a housing including a baseplate on which are mounted a magnet core having a pair of flanges and a winding wound around it, and two switch capsules positioned on either sides of the magnetic core with each capsule being insulated from each flange magnetic core by insulating means. Magnets are also positioned to provide either a monostable or a bistable mode of operation as desired. With this construction, the magnetic and electric paths in the assembly are physically separate from one another, thereby allowing the magnetic and electric materials to be chosen independently from each other.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1996Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: C.
