Abstract: The present invention provides improved elevator door hatches. The elevator door hatches drop open into the elevator cab and slide at a desirable angle just underneath the elevator cab ceiling, without extending too far or too low into the interior cab space. The elevator door hatches are able to accommodate light fixtures and cabling installed into the elevator door hatches without disconnecting when the door hatches are slid underneath the elevator cab ceiling in the open position. The door hatch also allows for the drop ceiling to be mounted closer to the canopy, which increases the usable height of the elevator cab.
