Patent number: 7015797Abstract: A method and system for transmitting infra-red (IR) signals through power lines. An IR signal may be received and substituted with a corresponding RF signal. The RF signal may be placed on a power line network in one location and removed by a high-pass filter at a second location. The RF signal may be converted back to the corresponding IR signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2004Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: Cable Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Robert Kaylor, Sealtiel Avalos, Robert F. Kessler, Randall Muncy

Publication number: 20040101143Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for digitally demodulating an analog signal. In one example, the analog signal contains a L+R signal, a L−R signal centered around a carrier signal, and a pilot signal. An exemplary system for digitally demodulating such a signal includes an analog to digital converter, three digital filters, clock reconstitution circuitry, L−R signal recovery circuitry, and channel recovery circuitry. The analog to digital converter converts the analog signal into a digital signal. The three filters separate the L+R signal, the pilot signal, and the L−R signal from the digital signal. The clock reconstitution circuitry reconstitutes a clock signal from the separated pilot signal. The L−R signal recovery circuitry recovers the separated L−R signal using the reconstituted clock signal. The channel recovery circuitry recovers a left channel signal and a right channel signal from the separated L+R signal and the recovered L−R signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2003Publication date: May 27, 2004Applicant: Cable Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Sealtiel Avalos, Robert D. Patent number: 6445422Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating a composite audio signal clocked to a selected frequency from left and audio input signals. A video/audio signal generator transmits the left and right audio input signals, together with a video signal having a horizontal synchronization signal embedded therein. If copy protection has not been applied to the video signal, the embedded horizontal synchronization signal will have a frequency of 15.734 KHz. If applied to the video signal, copy protection techniques will shift the frequency of the horizontal synchronization signal. To avoid distortion of the composite audio signal, a switch configured to selectively couple the video signal or a secondary video signal generated by an internal video signal generator to an audio signal processor which generates the composite audio output signal from the left and right audio input signals. Embedded within the secondary video signal is a horizontal synchronization signal having a frequency of 15.734 KHz.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2001Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Cable Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Sealtiel Avalos, Robert D. Patent number: 5953067Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus that transmits the stereo and the surround sound information of the L-R signal without excessive attenuation at the higher frequencies in order to allow transmission of surround sound through a noisy medium. The apparatus includes a surround sound conditioner coupled to receive a L-R signal portion of the television signal for pre-emphasizing and companding the L-R signal to produce a conditioned L-R signal; a mixer coupled to the surround sound conditioner for switching the conditioned L-R signal at a predetermined value to produce an amplitude modulated L-R signal; and a synchronizing circuitry coupled to the mixer for maintaining the predetermined value in step with the reference value, wherein the mixed L-R signal is combined with a L+R signal portion of the television signal to produce a composite output signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1997Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Assignee: Cable Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Sealtiel Avalos, Ken Kaylor, Robert Kaylor, Robert Kessler
