Patent number: 7088071Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are ideally suited for use filming movies, sporting events, or any other activity that requires fluid movement of a camera or other object to any position within a defined volume of space. To accomplish such positioning embodiments of the invention are configured to move an object throughout three-dimensional space by relocating one or more lines that are feed through a plurality of opposing sides of the object. These line(s) (e.g., a cable, rope, string, cord, wire, or any other flexible connective element) which support the object over a volume of space are arranged in way that allows the object to be rapidly moved to and from any location within the defined volume of space.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2004Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventor: Jim Rodnunsky

Patent number: 7036436Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout two-dimensional space by using a support line that is coupled with both opposing sides of the platform. This line controls the Y-axis motion and Z-axis motion of the platform and is designated the YZ movement line. Displacing a portion of the YZ movement line allows vertical displacement of the platform to be traversed. There is no need for a complex computer control system since the Z-axis displacement is substantially independent of horizontal movement over a coverage area serviced by the platform. A mounting beam for positioning and supporting the Z-axis and Y-axis motors and visual display element(s) and other optional multimedia devices may also be positioned independently of the platform. In addition, since the line is commanded from one point, distantly located motors and electrical cables are not required.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2004Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventors: Alex MacDonald, Jim Rodnunsky

For instance, the system may be arranged to perform dimensional movement using one line configured as an endless loop, one line configured as a half loop, two lines configured as endless loops or two lines configured as half loops.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2004Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventors: Jim Rodnunsky, S. Publication number: 20050160936Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout two-dimensional and three-dimensional space by using a movement line that is coupled with a plurality of opposing sides of the platform. The movement line is used to control the horizontal axis motion and Z-axis motion of the platform and is designated the horizontal movement line. Displacing a portion of the horizontal movement line allows vertical displacement of the platform to be traversed. There is no need for a complex computer control system since the Z-axis displacement is substantially independent of horizontal movement over a coverage area serviced by the platform. Nested embodiments utilizing one or more rope allow for three-dimensional movement of an object or angular displacement of an object with respect to the vertical axis. A mounting beam for positioning and supporting the Z-axis and horizontal axis motors and visual display element(s) and other optional multimedia devices may also be positioned independently of the platform.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2005Publication date: July 28, 2005Applicant: CABLECAM INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: S. Patent number: 6886471Abstract: A traveling highline aerial cable rail system for moving objects over large distances in three-dimensional space. A pair of track dollies mounted beneath substantially parallel and distantly separated support trusses allow the entire load bearing highline itself to traverse X-axis space. The highline defines the Y-axis of the system and supports a skate that moves along this axis. A platform suspended from the skate moves vertically in the Z-axis and can support extremely heavy loads depending on the gauge of the rope used in the system. A three motor pulley system with a multiplicity of sheaves allow independent movement of all three axes. The system can move objects weighing thousands of pounds stably at 60 miles per hour or more through three-dimensional space. The system can be modularly widened along the X-axis by adding truss sections, and the highline can be configured to up to 1000 feet or more, using rope that can support several tons or more.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2003Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventor: James Lewis Rodnunsky

Patent number: 6809495Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout three-dimensional by using two supporting ropes each of which connects to both opposing sides of the payload. If one rope breaks, the payload gently travels to the middle of the coverage area in a safe manner, maintaining the given displacement in the other unbroken axis. One rope controls the X-axis motion of the platform and is designated the X movement rope. The other rope controls the Y-axis motion of the platform and is designated the Y movement rope. Displacing equal lengths of the X and Y movement ropes allows the Z-axis of the platform to be traversed. There is no need for a complex computer control system since the Z-axis displacement is substantially independent of X and Y axis movement over a coverage area serviced by the platform. In addition, since the ropes are commanded from one point, distantly located motors and electrical cables are not required.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2003Date of Patent: October 26, 2004Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventor: Jim Rodnunsky

Publication number: 20040206715Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout three-dimensional space. This is accomplished with two highlines which support skates that move along the highlines. The skates support a three sheave device which in turn supports a platform. The entire system is driven in three dimensions by a Y movement rope pair and an XZ movement rope. The Y movement rope pair moves a skate on each highline in the Y-axis direction. The X-axis and Z-axis motion of the platform is controlled by a single XZ movement rope. Increasing the deployed length of the XZ movement rope causes the platform to lower in the Z-axis direction, while decreasing the deployed length of the XZ movement rope causes the platform to rise. For embodiments that employ equal length highlines in a parallel configuration, there is no need for a control system since the Z-axis displacement is independent of X and Y-axis movement.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2003Publication date: October 21, 2004Applicant: CABLECAM INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventor: Jim Rodnunsky
