Abstract: A method for preparing a dental restoration with at least one rotating material removing tool (2) is presented, the N method comprising the steps of providing a dental material piece (1) from which the dental restoration is to be prepared, providing an initial cavity (C) in the material dental piece (1), and removing material outside the initial cavity (C) by moving the tool (2) essentially in a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis (R) of the tool (2). In hard, brittle dental restoration materials, risks of material failure, excessive tool wear, and tool failure are reduced, and higher processing speeds are made possible.
