    Abstract: Circuitry is disclosed for driving the transducer assembly of a dental handpiece at its resonant frequency. The circuitry includes a variable frequency oscillator and a peak-detecting processor which allows the oscillator to sweep through a continuum of frequencies until maximum current in the transducer driving coil is sensed.
