Abstract: A method for the automatic chromatography of thin-layer plates for thin-layer chromatography with a development chamber 1 in which a thin-layer plate D is completely enclosed, sealed-off and isolated from the external environment. In the development chamber, a front space containing an inner atmosphere is located on the front face of the separation layer of the thin-layer plate. The depth of the front space is about 2 mm and a maximum 3 mm. An inlet is provided at one end of the front space and an outlet is provided at the other end of the front space. During the chromatographic development, a stream of gas of particular composition determined by the user is created throughout the entire front space, the entire inner atmosphere being set in motion, without stagnant or stationary gas phase.

Abstract: A method and a device for preparing a qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples are presented. The device affords the possibility of delimiting and isolating a specific region of a solid or liquid sample. A liquid, e.g. a solvent or extracting agent, is added in the delimited and isolated region. Thereafter the created mixture of substance and liquid is, in a plug-shaped fashion, pressed out of the closed region by means of a neutral liquid or the same liquid, and supplied to the measuring instrument in the form of a highly concentrated solution.
Abstract: A fully automatic extraction and analysis system for biologically active samples significantly simplifies the analysis of, for example, DMS samples and has significant advantages over the manual technology and the partially automated technology (punching out). The described extraction system is the first economical alternative to conventional blood analysis and supports the spread of said time-, cost-, and animal-saving technology in pharmacology and toxicology.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying liquid samples to surfaces, particularly to the separating layer used in thin-layer chromatography and comparable techniques, consisting of a guided pipette which contains the sample, can be placed on the surface with an adjustable contact pressure and which can be removed therefrom again, the apparatus having an electromagnet, the strength of the magnetic field of which can be adjusted so that it holds the vertically freely movable pipette hovering at the required height in relation to the surface, lifts it away from the surface or allows it to rest on the surface under the influence of the force of gravity.

Abstract: A monochromator for the simultaneous selection and utilization of two wavelengths of small and constant band width, whereby the wavelengths may be selected and rapidly changed as desired. The monochromator is particularly suitable for the simultaneous scanning of a chromatogram (e.g. a thin-layer chromatogram) with two wavelengths to determine the concentration of a certain material independently of disturbing influences of the matrix. This is done by photosensors which are adapted to be led on pivot arms on a circular arc about the element dispersing the light.
