Patent number: 9383049Abstract: A gripping device may be used to grip an inserted member. The gripping device has a body. The body defines a passage extending therethrough between opposite longitudinal ends. The body has an outer surface and an inner surface. The body includes at least three gripping elements spaced apart around the inner surface. Each of the gripping elements has a gripping surface for gripping an outer surface of the inserted member. Each of the gripping elements is movable upon application of a radial inward force to the outer surface of the body to reduce the spacing between adjacent gripping elements.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2011Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: Cambridge Brass, Inc.Inventors: Valer Stratulat, Donald William Stark

Patent number: 8230875Abstract: A poppet-style check valve for allowing uni-directional flow in a fluid conducting system. The check valve comprises a valve body, and a poppet mounted therein for reciprocal axial movement between a first position in which the poppet is pressed against a valve seat restricting flow through the check valve, and a second position in which the poppet is spaced from the valve seat permitting flow through the check valve. An inner bore of the valve body is expanded in the area of the poppet to maximize flow through the check valve, and the external dimensions of the check valve are minimized by eliminating a conventional liner between the poppet and the valve body. Additionally, the elements of the valve mechanism are designed such that they lock in place within the valve body during assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2005Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Cambridge Brass, Inc.Inventor: Jamie Norman

Patent number: 7637277Abstract: A water meter idler bar for use during manufacture, shipping and installation of a water meter setter to ensure and maintain proper alignment and spacing between water meter fittings of the water meter setter. Following installation, the idler bar also allows water to flow through the water meter setter prior to installation of a water meter. The idler bar is a rigid PVC pipe having threaded connectors with rubber O-rings at its ends.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2006Date of Patent: December 29, 2009Assignee: Cambridge Brass, Inc.Inventor: Jamie Norman

Patent number: 7469936Abstract: A coupling for creating a fluid-conducting connection between a pipe and a stub, where the stub has no pipe-supporting extension over which the pipe is to be connected. The coupling includes a coupling body having a forward end for being secured to the stub, a rearward end for receiving the pipe, and an internal bore therethrough; stub connection for securing the forward end of the coupling body to the stub; a pipe support for providing internal support for an end section of the pipe being engaged by the coupling; gripper engaging means for causing the gripper to grip the pipe; a seal between the stub and the pipe; and a gripper located within the internal bore of the coupling body, the gripper and the coupling body configured to engage the pipe with the gripper when the stub is secured in the stub connection.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2004Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Assignee: Cambridge Brass, Inc.Inventor: Jamie Norman
