  • Patent number: 11293263
Abstract: A technique facilitates rapid transitioning of a valve, e.g. a gate valve. According to an embodiment, a system comprises a valve actuator constructed for coupling with a valve to actuate the valve between closed and open positions. Hydraulic actuation fluid may be supplied to the valve actuator under pressure via a hydraulic supply system to enable selective shifting of the valve actuator, and thus the valve, from a closed position to an open position. The system also comprises a dump tank coupled to the valve actuator in a manner to receive hydraulic fluid. In a rapid valve actuation operation, e.g. closing operation, the dump tank receives hydraulic fluid from the valve actuator rather than returning the hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic supply system. This, in turn, enables rapid shifting of the valve actuator and thus rapid shifting of the valve.

  • Patent number: 11280141
Abstract: A technique facilitates monitoring fluid phases of a multiphase flow during, for example, well fluid production operations. According to an embodiment, data may be obtained from devices, such as chokes and pressure sensors. This data is then processed to identify phases of the multiphase well fluid flow. The use of data from such well related devices effectively establishes a virtual multiphase flowmeter. However, the output from the virtual multiphase flowmeter may be calibrated periodically by taking measurements from an actual multiphase flowmeter. In some embodiments, the data from a plurality of flow meters having differing physical operating principles may be correlated in a manner to obtain additional parameters related to the multiphase well fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 11261370
Abstract: A method of treating a fluid to reduce the level of H2S therein while inhibiting the deposition of scale on surfaces in contact with the fluid, comprising introducing into the fluid a triazine scavenger compound and a terpolymer. The fluid may be liquid or gas and may be petroleum, petroleum product, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or other type of oil fraction or refined oil. The triazine scavenger may be e.g. 1,3,5-tri(2-hydroxyethyl)-hexahydro-1, 3, 5-triazine. The terpolymer may comprise a carboxylate/sulphonate/non-ionic terpolymer. When added to a wellbore fluid, it is effective as a scavenger of H2S and also reduces the amount of scale deposition on a surface in contact with the fluid when the fluid comes into contact with or is mixed with a brine. In some aspects, the composition increases the proportion of precipitated solids held in suspension when the fluid is contacted with or mixed with a brine.

  • Patent number: 11255487
Abstract: A pretreatment system and method for a floating liquid natural gas (“FLNG”) facility are presented. The inlet natural gas stream flows through a membrane system to remove carbon dioxide and a heat exchanger, producing first and second cooled CO2-depleted non-permeate streams. The first cooled CO2-depleted non-permeate stream is routed to additional pretreatment equipment, while the second cooled CO2-depleted non-permeate stream is routed directly to a LNG train. Alternatively, the inlet natural gas stream may flow through a membrane system to produce a single cooled CO2-depleted non-permeate stream that is routed to the LNG train after sweetening and dehydration. Because the pretreatment system delivers the incoming gas stream to the LNG train at a lower temperature than conventional systems, less energy is needed to convert the gas stream to LNG. In addition, the pretreatment system has a smaller footprint than conventional pretreatment systems.
