Abstract: A sump pump has a float operated alarm switch mounted on the top end of the pump housing for activating an alarm when water rises above a normal operating level. The alarm is in a remote enclosure with the pump power plug so that plugging in the unit automatically positions the alarm in a desirable location to be heard. The power cord and alarm switch wire extend through a flexible corrugated tube that is attached to the pump housing and the alarm enclosure by strain relief connections that do not compressively crush the tube.

Abstract: A paint sprayer for spraying a fluid includes a pump housing, an electrical housing having a motor and a switch, a handle coupled to the pump housing, a paint cup coupled to the handle, and a mechanical actuator coupled to the pump housing for operating the motor. The actuator has a first portion positioned in the vicinity of the exterior of the pump housing and a second portion that extends into the pump housing. The second portion is configured to engage the switch in the electrical housing to operate the motor. Another embodiment of the invention comprises a mechanical actuator configured to allow fluid isolation of the pump housing from the electrical housing.

Abstract: A rotary cut-off tool has a hand-held housing. The housing has an open end centered on an axis and a housing abutment surface facing axially outward of the open end. A motor within the housing has an output shaft. A guard has a guard flange with a mounting hole. An arbor is configured to extend axially from the shaft through the mounting hole. A cut-off disk is receivable on the arbor. A spring has an installed position compressively engaged by and between the housing abutment surface and the guard flange, such that the spring releasably restrains the guard from swiveling about the axis.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a tank configured to contain air at an elevated pressure, an air compressor which is operative to supply compressed air for storage in the tank, and a base structure which supports the compressor on the tank. A mounting boss projects from the compressor into an opening in the base structure. A vibration damping structure is interposed between the mounting boss and the base structure within the opening.
Abstract: A pump impeller having a central hub and circumferentially-spaced bottom vanes extending in a direction outwardly of the hub. An annular shroud surrounds the hub in outwardly-spaced relationship thereto and provides an impeller liquid inlet passage around the hub leading to the vanes. A permanent magnet motor rotor is mounted on the annular shroud. The rotor is used in a sump pump having an upper cylindrical filter that encloses a float switch for operating the pump motor.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a tank, an air compressor, and a motor with an output shaft. A fan is mounted on the output shaft. A drive assembly interconnects the motor operatively with the compressor. The apparatus further includes a base structure and a shroud. The base structure is configured to support the compressor, the motor and the drive assembly on the tank. The shroud is configured to cover the compressor, the motor, the drive assembly and the base structure on the tank. The shroud has a cooling air inlet port and a cooling air outlet port. A plurality of internal wall portions of the shroud are configured to direct cooling air to flow over the motor and the compressor upon flowing through the cover from the inlet port to the outlet port under the influence of the fan.
Abstract: An apparatus includes a motor with an output shaft. A solitary air compressor is linked to the output shaft so as to be driven by the output shaft. The compressor contains a piston in a cylinder. A first fan is mounted on the output shaft to direct cooling air to the motor. A second fan is mounted on the output shaft to direct cooling air to the compressor.
