  • Patent number: 5242156
Abstract: A dual belt furnace for heat-treating of small parts includes enclosure having a base, a pair of side walls, a top wall, front wall, and a rear wall all being connected together to form at least one heating zone. A plurality of gas burners are positioned throughout the enclosure for delivering a hot gaseous medium. A plurality of fans are mounted in the top wall of the furnace for circulating the heated gas medium within the enclosures. A first conveyor belt is arranged completely within the at least one heating zone and extends substantially between the front wall and the rear wall of the enclosure for transporting the small parts to be heat treated through the at least one heating zone to a drop zone. The second conveyor belt extends beyond the at least one heating zone and overlays the first conveyor belt so as to be supported by the first conveyor belt within the at least one heating zone for carrying the small parts to be heat treated into the at least one heating zone.

  • Patent number: 4648836
Abstract: A continuous rotary retort furnace includes an outer shell having first and second ends. A retort assembly extends through openings in the first and second ends. The retort assembly is supported by support devices at both ends external of the shell. The retort assembly is formed of an axial member and a spirally-wound conduit disposed on the exterior surface of the axial member. A drive assembly is coupled to the support device adjacent the first end for rotating of the retort assembly.

  • Patent number: 4604055
Abstract: A fluidized bed furnace includes a furnace housing having an outer shell. A furnace base and an outer top plate are secured to the respective lower and upper ends of the housing. A vertical retort has an opened upper end and an opened lower end. The retort is arranged in an opening formed in the outer top plate and extends downwardly into the center of the housing. Heat insulating material is disposed between the outer shell and the vertical retort. A retort base assembly is used to close the lower end of the retort. An upper support device is formed integrally with the retort at its upper end for supporting the vertical retort on top of the outer top plate so as to permit downward growth only during thermal expansion. A lower support device is interposed between the lower surface of the retort base assembly and the upper surface of the furnace base which supports substantially all the weight of the retort, the weight of the load of fluidizable media and the weight of a load of material to be heat treated.

  • Patent number: 4597735
Abstract: A procelain enameling furnace includes a combined entrance/exit zone, an air seal section, a radiation/convection heat transfer section, and a heating section. The entrance/exit zone receives an incoming cool ware and discharges an outgoing hot ware at substantially the same location. The air seal section prevents loss of heat from the furnace through the entrance/exit zone. In the heat transfer section, the incoming ware is parallel to and travels in the opposite direction to the outgoing ware for transferring heat therebetween by radiation and convection. The heating section includes a pre-heating zone and at least one heating zone. The pre-heating zone is formed of U-shaped heat exchanger tubes through which the incoming ware passes following the heat transfer section. The heating zone is formed of U-shaped radiant heating tubes for heating the cool ware following the pre-heating zone.
