  • Patent number: 7957291
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for controlling effective communication traffic rates are disclosed. Communication signals that include communication traffic are generated for transfer on a wireless communication link based on fixed signalling characteristics. An effective communication traffic rate of the wireless communication link is controlled by controlling a rate at which communication traffic is provided to a communication module, illustratively a wireless transceiver, that generates the communication signals. Techniques according to embodiments of the invention thereby enable rate control for wireless communication links without changing wireless signalling characteristics or subjecting links to downtime during link reconfiguration. Collaborative rate control, in which rate control information is exchanged between rate control systems, is also contemplated.

  • Patent number: 7847111
Abstract: A semisynthetic route has been provided in the preparation of docetaxel and paclitaxel. This new process involves the conversion of 9-dihydro-13-acetylbaccatin III to docetaxel and paclitaxel by the step of converting 9-dihydro-13-acetylbaccatin III into 7-O-triethylsilyl-9,10-diketobaccatin III, and adding docetaxel and paclitaxel side chain precursors, respectively, to form a new class of taxane intermediates, such as 7-O-triethylsilyl-9,10-diketodocetaxel and 7-O-triethylsilyl-9,10-diketopaclitaxeltaxel. These new intermediates then by a series reduction, acetylation of the 10-hydroxyl position for paclitaxel and finally deprotection to yield docetaxel and paclitaxel, the most important anti-cancer drugs.

  • Patent number: 6837149
Abstract: A rotisserie device for roasting meats, comprising a casing and a spit rotatably mounted to the casing. The casing comprises a vertical main portion, and a horizontal base perpendicularly attached to and extending beyond the vertical main portion. The horizontal base is provided with a residue-collecting drawer underlying the spit for collecting cooking residues. The vertical main portion of the casing comprises heating elements thereon, and also comprises top and bottom elongated tracks, to which are rollingly mounted a top spit attachment assembly and a bottom rolling member, respectively. The spit rotatably engages the top spit attachment assembly at its top end, and rotatably engages the bottom rolling member at its bottom end. By rollingly displacing the top spit attachment assembly about the top elongated track and the bottom rolling member about bottom elongated track, the spit can be tilted and/or translated relative to the heating elements of the device.

  • Patent number: 6776282
Abstract: The present invention relates to a case for storing and retrieving a disk such as an optical compact disk and accompanying printed material. More particularly, the invention relates to a compact disk case (CD case) from which the disk can be extracted using only one hand without opening the lid, although the case can be made out of a single part.

  • Patent number: 6738445
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for changing the frequency content of an input spectrum and a method and apparatus for reducing the perceptibility of a component of an input signal. The first aspect involves adjusting frequency components of the input spectrum in response to a time varying adjustment frequency spectrum to produce an output frequency spectrum including adjusted frequency components of the input spectrum. The time varying input spectrum may be produced by selectively addressing a number of individual sub-spectra at different times. In addition, the input spectrum may be divided into a plurality of sub-spectra and each sub-spectrum may be operated on separately by a different adjustment frequency spectrum at different times. In addition, a perceptual model may be used to enhance the adjustment of the input spectrum or sub-spectra.

  • Publication number: 20030114403
Abstract: A method of therapy based on a pharmaceutical composition that has an irreversible effect of inhibiting the malignancy of tumors and cancers that comprises an effective ingredient is disclosed. The effective ingredient can be used in combination with a vector and/or metabolite that is specific to the malignant cells. This effect of blocking the malignancy without killing the cells is new, specific, and has been called malignodepriving inactivation.

  • Patent number: 6550841
Abstract: A tailgate bed extender for a vehicle truck bed. The tailgate bed extender has a tray mounted on a vehicle tailgate and a rear frame pivotally coupled to the tray. Sidearms are pivotally coupled to opposing side edges of the rear frame and are attachable to the vehicle truck bed. A hinge assembly that has a rotation axis, which is movable relative to the tray, joins the rear frame to the tray. The tailgate bed extender is rotatable from a stored position in which the rear frame abuts the tray to a loading position in which the rear frame is at an angle of approximately 270 degrees to the tray.

  • Patent number: 5642589
Abstract: The telescopic column is provided for a portable stage used in outdoor or indoor events produced in front of audiences or the like and comprising a haulable chassis for overland transportation between events. The column bears a roof movable vertically above the chassis and comprises a plurality of C-shaped beams operatively fitted into each other and concentric with a central beam. A plurality of pairs of upper rollers, each operatively connected to an upper end of a corresponding C-shaped beam, are provided for engagement with the surface of an adjacent interior beam and for rolling thereon upon raising or lowering of the roof. The use of rollers prevents jamming of the C-shaped beams when moving the roof vertically.
