  • Publication number: 20060146546
Abstract: A linear fixture for suspension from an overhead structure has a light weight and has electrical connectors capable of making easy plug electrical connections for power and network connection communications. The linear fixture is an elongated housing having a bottom wall, an elongated housing top wall and an elongated slot extending longitudinally along the elongated housing top wall. The housing is manufactured from an extrusion of aluminum thereby reducing the weight of the housing. The housing includes two or more housing supports having bottom and top surface portions respectively, conforming in shape to the housing bottom top walls. The bottom of top portions of the supports are adapted to engage or slide fit into the bottom and top walls so as to mate with the walls and provide support to the elongated housing bottom and top walls. The housing supports act to provide additional structural support for the top and bottom walls of the linear housing.

  • Publication number: 20040080953
Abstract: Disclosed is a suspension system for suspending linear fixtures from an overhead structure which permits temporary suspension of adjacent fixtures prior to final locking connection of the fixtures. The system has a hanger member comprising a bridge member, an elongated alignment member, and at least one clamping member supported from the bridge member for relative vertical movement therewith. Additionally, the clamping member has two spaced apart wings each adapted to be inserted loosely adjacent a corresponding one of a pair of adjacent clamping surfaces when tongue insert positions are inserted into alignment receiving slots. The clamping member may be moved vertically to bring the wing members into clamping engagement with the clamping surfaces and move end portions of the linear fixtures toward each other into locking engagement.

  • Patent number: 6659627
Abstract: A light fixture assembly is provided with a lamp housing having a top, a lamp socket within the lamp housing, a power pack operatively connected to the lamp socket, and a means for supported attachment of the power pack to the lamp housing at a position substantially lateral to the lamp housing, and not extending substantially above a plane defined by the top of the lamp housing. The power pack comprises a junction box containing a transformer operatively connected to the lamp socket, and means for operative attachment of the power pack to an electrical source. The means for supported attachment of the power pack to the lamp housing permits flexion of the junction box relative to the lamp housing.

  • Patent number: 6637710
Abstract: A fixture bracket suspension assembly is mounted directly to a drop ceiling runner. The runner has a stem and a base wall with a pair of flanges extending out from the stem in a generally inverted T shape. The flanges are adapted to support ceiling tiles and the stem has cross member positioning slots located along its length. The bracket assembly comprises a screw and a bracket. The screw has a head portion and a stem portion for supporting a suspension wire adapted to be mounted to a fixture. The bracket has a base plate with an opening through which the screw stem portion passes. The base plate has a top surface for supporting the screw head adjacent the base wall of the runner. The bracket has two pair of spaced apart opposing legs.

  • Patent number: 6568830
Abstract: There is disclosed a linear fixture layout where one or more linear fixtures extending along different longitudinal axes are offset from each other by a predetermined angle. The fixtures each have end portions, which are positioned adjacent to and spaced from each other. The fixtures each have end caps mounted to the end portions of the linear fixtures and connected to each other by an interconnecting member so as to present a continuous fixture layout. The end caps have a slot in a side portion thereof and the interconnecting member has two legs spread apart from each other at the predetermined angle. Each of the legs is adapted to be mounted in sliding relation into a corresponding end cap slot to fixedly locate the end caps together and present continuous fixture layout appearance.

  • Patent number: 6000818
Abstract: A clip for mounting a recessed light fixture into a panel includes a clamping assembly for anchoring the clip to a hole in the panel, and a resilient arm biased toward a housing of the light fixture which frictionally engages the housing to support the fixture in the panel. In the preferred embodiment a gripping edge of the resilient arm contacts the housing at an oblique angle, so that turning the housing in a particular direction draws the fixture into the hole and thus draws a flange surrounding the mouth of the housing flush against the panel.

  • Patent number: 5964522
Abstract: The invention provides a floodlight in which the lamp axis is offset from the axis of a reflector. In the preferred embodiment an arc lamp is oriented vertically when the reflector axis is oriented at an oblique downward angle. The reflector includes a back reflector having a parabolic reflecting surface and a front reflector having at least one ellipsoidal reflecting surface disposed symmetrically about the reflector axis. In a preferred embodiment the front reflector is hinged to the back reflector and can be pivoted away from the back reflector to expose the lamp to facilitate cleaning and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 5609414
Abstract: The invention provides a recessed lighting fixture having an outwardly extending housing flange about a lower end of the fixture housing and retaining clips mounted to the housing wall. The retaining clips have enlarged ends trapped within the housing and extending through axial slots so as to permit axial movement along the housing wall. Each retaining clip includes a spring arm biased to an open position in which the spring arm extends radially from the housing, part of the upper portion being flexible such that the spring arm can be depressed toward the housing wall. The fixture can thus be installed through a ceiling opening barely larger than the diameter of the housing. An adjusting screw is provided for adjusting the position of the retaining clip axially along the housing wall, which secures the housing in place by clamping the ceiling between the housing flange and the retaining clips.
