Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for associating metadata with a media object that has been published on a plurality of social networks obtain a respective identifier by which the media object is identified on each of the plurality of social networks, retrieve metadata associated with the media object from each of the plurality of social networks using the corresponding identifier, and store the retrieved metadata in association with the media object.

Abstract: A printing system with at least one printer and at least two print servers is provided for printing a print job on a selected printer. The print job is stored on one of the print servers and print job information about the stored print job on the storing print server is shared between the print servers. In case of a request for print out the print job on the selected printer, the print job is sent from the storing print server to the selected printer based on the print job information.

Abstract: A job-processing method route a print job to one of a plurality of printers in a job-processing apparatus. Each printer has a low-power state and a powered-up state. The method comprises: determining a destination printer from print data included in the print job; determining whether or not the destination printer is in the low-power state; if the destination printer is in the low-power state, selecting at least one alternative printer; determining the state of the at least one alternative printer; and, if the alternative printer is in the powered-up state, re-routing the print job from the destination printer to the alternative printer for printing.

Abstract: An image-processing system comprising a peripheral device 10, a web server 12 associated with the peripheral device 10 an application server 13 and a mobile phone 11. The web server 12 is configured to send a registration request to register communication parameters of the peripheral device 10 in association with a piece of identification information at the application server 13. The mobile device 11 is configured to determine the piece of identification information and to send a request to the application server 13 with the determined piece of identification information. The application server 13 is configured to associate the registered details of the peripheral device 10 with the request from the mobile device 11 thereby allowing a connection to be configured between the mobile device 11 and the peripheral device 10.

Abstract: A method of communicating between a print client and a print server is described. The method comprises obtaining an indication of the viability of communication of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) messages from the server to the client. If the indication is that UDP messages are viable, messages are sent from the server to the client using UDP. Otherwise a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) request is made from the client to the server, that request is left open, and when the server wishes to send a message to the client, the message is sent as the response to the open HTTP request.

Abstract: A print-management system comprises a plurality of web-submission servers and a print server. Each web-submission server hosts a website configured to allow submission of print jobs to the print management system. The print server is configured to receive print jobs from the plurality of web-submission servers, process the print jobs, and send print jobs to at least one printer to be printed. The print management system is configured to add an identifier to each received print job to identify the web-submission server or website that received the print job. The print server is configured so that print jobs are processed based on the identifiers added to the print jobs.

Abstract: A network printing system includes user devices, printing devices, a print server, and a logon server. The print server includes a print queue arranged to store print jobs received from the user devices and to send stored print jobs to the printing devices. The logon server is arranged to store logon details for users of the user devices and to store printer information for the users. The print server is arranged to select a printing device to which to send a print job stored in the queue based on the printer information stored in the logon server for the user of the user device from which the print job originated.

Abstract: In order to edit texture data for a 3D computer model, an image showing the 3D computer model with the texture data applied thereto is generated from a user-selected viewing direction and displayed to the user. Changes are made to the image data in accordance with user instructions. Corresponding changes are made to the texture data. To preserve texture data that the user did not wish to change and to retain the quality of the original texture data, processing is performed to amend the texture data which corresponds to only the image data that was changed and not texture data which corresponds to image data unchanged by the user. In addition, processing is performed to identify each polygon in the 3D computer model which is at an oblique angle to the viewing direction of the image displayed to the user. The identified polygons are then excluded from subsequent processing so that the texture data therefor is not changed.

Abstract: A plurality of texture maps for a 3D computer model of an object are generated by processing images of the object, data defining the computer model, and data defining the relative positions and orientations of the images and computer model. A respective texture map is generated for the viewing position and direction of each image. Each texture map stores texture data for all parts of the computer model which are visible from the associated viewing position and direction and also texture data for all invisible parts of the computer model. Each texture map therefore stores texture data that can be used for rendering accurate images of the 3D computer model over a wide range of viewing positions and directions.

Abstract: View-dependent texture images and view-independent texture data for a 3D computer model are processed to compress each view-dependent texture image by subtracting the view-dependent data and view-independent data in a common 2D image space to generate a difference image, and compression encoding the difference image. The difference images, 3D computer model and view-independent texture data are transmitted to a second apparatus, where the difference data and view-independent texture data are recombined in a common 2D image space as part of the processing to render an image.

Abstract: A texture map for texturing the polygon mesh of a 3D computer model during rendering is generated by defining a respective triangle within the texture map for each triangle in the polygon mesh to create a texture coordinate map, and allocating image data to each defined triangle. To generate the texture coordinate map, the triangles are defined so that the area of each triangle is dependent upon the content of texture data to be stored therein. More particularly, triangles required to store texture data with a relatively large amount of detail have a relatively large area and triangles which are required to store texture data with relatively little detail have a relatively small area. In this way, more area is allocated for the storage of detailed texture data, thereby reducing the amount of information which is lost from the texture data during the creation of a texture map.
