  • Patent number: 8804185
Abstract: If a fallback processing involving lossy compression occurs in PDL data including a special pattern, such as a texture pattern, an electronic watermark, or an Anoto pattern, the performance of the special pattern cannot be sufficiently exhibited by image degradation due to the compression. Moreover, in order to obtain an image quality capable of sufficiently exhibiting the performance of the special pattern, a high-capacity memory is necessary to raise the cost. Document information and additional information are sequentially received from other device, and a pre-preparation processing for bit-mapping the document information is started, and upon receipt of the additional information by a receiving unit, a bit map is generated using the information (display list) obtained by the pre-preparation processing for the document information.

  • Patent number: 8681367
Abstract: Upon designating bookbinding print, preview images are displayed in a layout after bookbinding. When “store” of intermediate data is designated in a print process, a spooler (302) stores intermediate data and an output job setup file in a spool file (303). When the stored job is selected, a previewer (306) displays a list of jobs, and displays a print preview image. In this case, upon setting bookbinding print, pages are displayed in a spread state and order after bookbinding. Also, the open direction (right or left open), and the bookbinding unit are also expressed on preview images.

  • Patent number: 7636114
Abstract: A pixel position corresponding to dust present on an image sensor and its optical system is detected from a dust detection sensed image. It is checked for a normally sensed image obtained by normal image sensing whether each pixel data is data at the pixel position corresponding to dust. Data at the pixel position corresponding to dust undergoes a correction process. An image sensing apparatus capable of suppressing the influence of dust on a sensed image even if dust attaches to the image sensor or its optical system can be realized.

Abstract: A diffractive optical element includes a plurality of diffraction gratings. A diffraction grating within the plurality of diffraction gratings includes a plurality of grating parts having a curved grating surface and grating tips which connect to define a curved envelope face. The grating surface has a radius of curvature larger than a radius of curvature of the envelope face. In addition, two diffraction gratings within the plurality of diffraction gratings are composed of different materials having different dispersions. Therefore, even when the radius of curvature of the envelope face is small, the degradation of the diffraction efficiency is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7586639
Abstract: A mechanism in which whether or not a printing process can be executed in a user's desired format can be recognized by the user before a print output is executed from an application is provided. The application inquires of a printer driver about a restriction value of a printing apparatus in the case of executing the printing process by print setting designated by the user and obtains such a value. Whether or not the printing process can be executed is discriminated on the basis of the obtained print restriction value information and the number of pages of a print document. If it is determined that the printing process cannot be executed, a message showing that it is impossible to execute the printing process is displayed onto a displaying apparatus. If the printing process cannot be executed, the user is allowed to select available print settings.
