Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, a developing member to develop an electrostatic latent image at a developing portion, a transfer member to transfer a developer image to a recording member at a transfer portion; and a brush provided with a plurality of base materials contacting the image bearing member at downstream of the transfer portion and upstream of the developing portion in a rotational direction of the image bearing member. The developer remaining on the surface of the image bearing member is collected in the developing portion. An average distance between base materials of the brush with respect to a rotational axis direction of the image bearing member is larger than an average particle diameter of the developer, and is equal to or less than a length corresponding to a special frequency visually recognizable by a user when the image formed by the image forming apparatus is observed by the user.

Abstract: A decoding unit decodes data corresponding to an N×M array of quantized coefficients from a bit stream. An inverse quantization unit derives orthogonal transform coefficients from the N×M array of quantized coefficients by using at least a quantization matrix. An inverse orthogonal transform unit performs inverse orthogonal transform on the orthogonal transform coefficients generated by the inverse quantization unit to generate prediction residuals corresponding to a block of a P×Q array of pixels. An inverse quantization unit derives the orthogonal transform coefficients by using at least a quantization matrix of an N×M array of elements, and the inverse orthogonal transform unit generates prediction residuals for the P×Q array of pixels having a size larger than the N×M array.

Abstract: An image pickup apparatus which is capable of preventing faces of persons from being partially cut off in an image at the time of image pickup in a case where a subject includes a plurality of persons. The image pickup apparatus has a plurality of lenses with different angles of view including at least a first lens and a second lens. A first image is generated by shooting the subject through the first lens. It is determined whether or not in the subject included in the first image, a person is partially cut off. When it is determined that the person is partially cut off, the lens is switched from the first lens to the second lens with a wider angle of view than that of the first lens to shoot the subject and generate a second image.
