Abstract: The present invention provides an image encoding apparatus for encoding a sequence of images, where the apparatus comprises a prediction unit which generates, for a target block to be encoded having a predetermined size in an image, a predicted image from both an intra-prediction image and an inter-prediction image, and obtains prediction errors that are differences between the target block and the predicted image; a transform unit which frequency-transforms the prediction errors, a quantization unit which quantize, using a quantization matrix, the transform coefficients, and an encoding unit which entropy-encodes quantized transform coefficients, wherein the quantization unit obtains the quantization matrix, using at least one of a predetermined quantization matrix for the intra-prediction and a predetermined quantization matrix for inter-prediction.
Abstract: The invention relates to encapsulating partitioned timed media data to be streamed to a client's device, the partitioned timed media data comprising timed samples, each comprising a plurality of subsamples. After having grouped several of the subsamples to form at least one group so that at least part of the subsamples belongs to a group of subsamples, at least two subsamples of the same group are selected from amongst the plurality of subsamples of one of the timed samples and at least one track comprising the selected subsamples is created. Next, for the at least one created track, one sub-track box is created for each of the subsamples selected to create the at least one track, at least one of the created sub-track boxes comprising definitions and properties that are common to the selected sub-samples. Each of the created tracks is independently encapsulated in at least one media file.

Abstract: A printing apparatus that is capable of performing a process corresponding to a user certainly. A management unit manages relating information that relates an information processing apparatus sending print data with a user who is permitted to use the printing apparatus. A specifying unit specifies a user who instructed execution of printing of the print data to the information processing apparatus based on the relating information. A processing unit executes a process corresponding to the user specified.
Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus equipped with a display unit including a touch panel, and a method of controlling the same. In response to a plurality of fingers of a user that are in touch with a display object displayed on the display unit including the touch panel moving in the same direction, the touched display object is displayed such that they move, and the moving display object and a plurality of display objects displayed within a predetermined distance thereof are displayed as a grouped display object. With an operation performed by the user on the grouped display object, delete processing for deleting objects corresponding to a plurality of display objects included in the grouped display objects is executed.
Abstract: This invention relates to a stage apparatus including a first stage, a second stage mounted on the first stage, a first actuator which drives the first stage in a first direction, and a second actuator which drives the second stage such that the second stage moves relative to the first stage. The stage apparatus also includes a first unit including a first movable magnet arranged at an end of the first stage in the first direction, and a first stationary magnet which faces the first movable magnet and generates a repulsive force against the first movable magnet. The stage apparatus also includes a second unit including a second movable magnet arranged at the two ends of the second stage in the first direction, and a second stationary magnet which faces the second movable magnet and generates a repulsive force against the second movable magnet.
Abstract: An ink-jet printing apparatus includes a recovery section having a pump for discharging ink from an ink-ejection portion of printing head by the application of a suction force thereto. The recovery section including the pump and the waste ink absorber for retaining the waste ink are disposed approximately at the same height so that the printing apparatus becomes thinner and is improved in portability. An interior space having a sealed waste ink flow passage for connecting the recovery section to the waste ink absorber is provided, in which a flow passage absorber is accommodated so that a gap is formed from a connection with the discharging port of the pump to a connection with the waste ink absorber and is further connected to the waste ink absorber. Thereby, the waste ink is effectively and securely guided to the waste ink absorber and securely retained there, without leakage.
Abstract: The present invention is an enzyme-decomposable polymer compound having recyclable decomposition products. The polymeric compound is a glycopolymer of a saccharide having only glucopyranose rings and a second component. In addition, the glycopolymer may contain molecular chains having at least one type of repeating unit, which chains are crosslinked by a saccharide having only glucopyranose rings.
