  • Patent number: 7672991
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for configuring an electronic document processing peripheral. The invention concerns more particularly a method of determining a configuration profile for an electronic document processing peripheral with the configuration profile representing a set of parameters defining a particular configuration of the peripheral. To do so, the electronic document processing peripheral determines user characteristics as a function of a user identification of a data item and then determines, as a function of the user characteristics, a configuration profile applicable for configuring the peripheral.

  • Patent number: 7031339
Abstract: A method of communicating digital information of different data formats via a plurality of communication channels shared between several communication means includes a reception operation, a reformat operation, and a transmission operation. In the reception operation, digital information having a first format and transmitted via a first communication channel from communication means that uses the first format is received. In the reformat operation, the received digital information having the first format is reformatted to digital information having a second format different from the first format, if resources to use a second channel for transmission of digital information having the second format are available. In the transmission operation, the digital information having the second format is transmitted via the second channel and is received by communication means that uses the second format.

  • Publication number: 20050021852
Abstract: A method of interconnection, through a gateway, between a first network of type IEEE 1394 enabling communications between a plurality of HAVi compliant devices and a second network enabling communications between a plurality of devices comprising the steps of: determining a global unique identifier for each device from the second network; determining a distinct IEEE 1394 address for each device from the second network; representing each device from the second network by a HAVI compliant software element hosted by the gateway; managing communication between devices from the first network and devices from the second network, using for each device from the second network, its corresponding software element associated with the global unique identifier and the IEEE1394 address.

  • Patent number: 6832225
Abstract: A system for recording information relating to a document, which is accessible via a computer communication network, operates by extracting key words associated with the document, associating a binary code with each extracted key word to form associations, storing the associations in a dictionary, and storing an electronic address (URL) of the document and the binary codes in association with each other in an information storage unit of a user.

  • Patent number: 6795577
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of analyzing a set of data representing physical quantities, including the steps of: decomposition (E20) of the set of data on a plurality of resolution levels, first segmentation (E21) of at least one sub-part of a given resolution level, into at least two homogeneous regions, said given resolution level not being the highest resolution level in the decomposition, characterized in that it includes the steps of: extraction (E81) of contour data from the result of the segmentation of the previous steps, second segmentation (E25) of at least one sub-part of the resolution level higher than the given level into at least one homogeneous region, as a function of the contour data extracted.

  • Patent number: 6766350
Abstract: A method of marshalling on a computer communication network makes it possible to marshall a data object from a programming language used by a data processing application to a communication language which can be used by a communication protocol of the computer communication network. This marshalling method comprises the following steps: reading (E1) a data field included in the data object; substituting (E5-E7), for the data field, a computer address associated with the data field when the structure of the data field is complex; and storing (E5-E7) said computer address associated with the data field in a table of associations (T). Use notably for transferring data objects and executing remotely a function on a data object.

  • Patent number: 6711298
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of coding a set of data (IM) representing physical quantities, characterized in that it includes the steps of: decomposing (E20) the set of data into a plurality of frequency sub-bands on at least one resolution level, then, for each resolution level, segmenting (E23, E26) at least one sub-band into at least two homogeneous regions, in order to form a segmentation map, ordering (E30, E33) the regions according to a predetermined criterion, coding (E21) the sub-bands of the resolution level under consideration, ordering (E31, E34) the coding data of the sub-bands as a function of the order of the regions.

  • Patent number: 6299280
Abstract: An apparatus for transmitting binary information between a first device carried by a first body and a second device carried by a second body, movable with respect to the first body along a path within a given range of movement, includes at least one first electrically conductive main plate on the first body along the path of the second body and a second electrically conductive main plate on the second body. The first and second main plates remain opposite each other, at a constant distance from each other, when there is a relative movement of the second body with respect to the first body within the range of movement along the path, such that the first and second main plates form a main capacitor with a constant capacitance.

  • Patent number: 6028927
Abstract: The present invention proposes a method and a device for detecting, amongst a set of signals, the presence of a periodic signal of period of occurrence T, in which a signal discriminating the said signal in the said set of signals is delivered. According to the invention, the discrimination signal is sampled in ln samples over more than one period T, a state value B(i) representing its level, and a true correlation value SR is calculated, by cumulating, for pairs of samples i and i+Z, the instantaneous value of correlation between the state value B(i) and the state value B(i+Z), the samples i and i+Z being located at instants shifted by a period T.
