  • Patent number: 6400463
Abstract: A system is constructed by connecting a plurality of digital copying machines (stations). having a common structure, and a master station 1001 and slave stations 1002 to 1004 are defined in accordance with their addresses. The master station 1001 issues a status request command to the slave stations at a predetermined time interval in order to gather information on the status of each slave station. The status which can be used in the system are recognized, depending upon the information, and a user selects the station or stations to be used. One of the station is made to read an original image, and the image is printed by the selected station or stations. The above constructed image processing system results in good expandability.

  • Patent number: 6398358
Abstract: An ink jet textile printing method forms an image on cloths in an image forming operation by repeating a step of applying ink on the cloths from an ink discharge port of a recording head, the recording head relatively main-scanning to form the image in a main scan direction, and a step of relatively conveying the cloths in a sub-scan direction. The method includes the steps of forming the image on the cloths by applying ink on the cloths from the recording head based on image data. The method further includes the step of temporarily stopping the image forming operation in accordance with an indication to effect a temporary halt of the image forming operation. When the temporary halt is indicated while the recording head performs a main scan in the image forming operation, the image forming operation by the main scan is completed, and then the temporary halt of the image forming operation is effected by moving the recording head to a standby position.

  • Patent number: 6400853
Abstract: An image feature amount extraction unit segments an image into a plurality of blocks and calculates the feature amount of each block. A feature amount label string generation unit adds a label to each block in accordance with the feature amount acquired for the block and arranges the labels on the basis of a predetermined block sequence to generate a label string. In retrieval, the similarity between the label string of a specified image and that of an image to be compared is calculated, and an image whose similarity exceeds a predetermined value is output as a retrieval result. In this way, similar image retrieval can be performed in consideration of the arrangement of feature amounts of images, and simultaneously, similar image retrieval can be performed while absorbing any difference due to a variation in photographing condition or the like.

  • Patent number: 6398353
Abstract: An ink tank has a first containing chamber for containing a negative pressure generating member for retaining liquid and being provided with a atmospheric communication hole to make the negative pressure generating member to be communicative with the air outside; and a second containing chamber communicated with the first containing chamber for retaining liquid directly. For this ink tank, a liquid supply port for supplying liquid to the outside is provided for the first containing chamber, and for the second containing chamber as well. With the structure thus arranged, it becomes possible not only to continue stable consumption of ink in the second containing chamber, but even after ink in the second containing chamber is no longer available, ink in the first containing chamber can be used up to the last. Hence, a highly reliable and stable supply of ink is possible even when the number of nozzles or the driving frequency is increased for printing at higher speed.
