Abstract: A guide rail serves for bringing together the edges of blanks of sheet metal rolled to form cylinders. The guide rail contains curved guide slots for the sheet metal edges. The guide slot bases are planar and converge toward the exit end of the guide rail. The sheet metal edges guided in the curved guide slots tend--after a first weld point has been made--to translate toward one another due to their innate elasticity.
Abstract: A can formed of a thin-walled material, especially sheet metal or metal plate, whose can body is provided with beads extending essentially in axial direction and circumferential direction for the purpose of increasing the strength of the can bodies. In particular, these are provided primary beads extending in a first direction, and protuberances or raised portions forming auxiliary beads extending essentially perpendicular to the primary beads flow into or continuously merge with the primary beads.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for beading the bodies of metal containers, wherein container bodies are rolled between an inner tool and an outer tool, for instance inner and outer rolls, in order to increase their strength. To prevent sliding of the container at the inner and outer tools the container body is coaxially retained with respect to the inner tool. The outer tool is then radially moved, during the beading operation, towards the inner tool, and then the outer tool is rolled upon the inner tool and the intermediately disposed container body.
