Abstract: A sealing device for sealing a space defined between respective end portions of an adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members of a conditioned air duct having a generally rectangular cross-section. The sealing device includes a substantially planar first plate member having a surface configured for placement in face-to-face relation with corresponding adjacent planar surfaces of the adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members. A leg member extends away from a generally central portion of the first plate member and is generally perpendicular thereto. The leg member includes second and third orthogonal plate members extending in respective orthogonal planes and having respectively orthogonal surface portions. The second and third orthogonal plate members are configured and dimensioned to engage corresponding respective adjacent orthogonal inner wall surface portions of the duct when the first plate member is positioned on the planar surface portions of the adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members.
Abstract: A corner seal device for sealing a space defined between respective end portions of an adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members of a conditioned air duct having a generally rectangular cross-section includes a first plate member having a surface dimensioned and configured for placement in face-to-face relation with the respective adjacent upper surface portions of said adjacent flange members; and a leg member extending away from a generally central portion of said plate member and being generally perpendicular thereto, wherein the leg member includes second and third orthogonal plate members having respectively orthogonal surface portions, and wherein the second and third orthogonal plate members are configured and dimensioned to engage corresponding respective adjacent orthogonal inner wall surface portions of the duct when the first plate member is positioned on said flange members.
Abstract: A bushing is disclosed for pivotally mounting a damper in ductwork of the type generally used with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The bushing is a circular shaped member of silicone rubber material, which is particularly configured and dimensioned to provide an airtight fit with the ductwork to prevent loss of conditioned air at the pivot location, without compromising the rotational capability of the damper to alter the direction of the conditioned air. The bushing is dimensioned to be inserted into the ductwork and includes a peripheral groove which receives the ductwork in a manner which compresses the inner surface of the groove to provide the airtight seal. The bushing also includes a longitudinally tapered square central opening, which opening is dimensioned to engageably receive the damper pivot rod snugly to provide additional sealing at the interface between the bushing and the pivot rod.
Abstract: An adjustable regulator and lock device for a pivotally rotatable damper adapted for installation in an air duct of an HVAC system is disclosed, which includes a pivot rod rotatably attached to the air duct and arranged for rotation with the damper. The pivot rod has coupled to it, a lockdown member having a plurality of radially extending teeth extending outwardly therefrom. A plate member is fixedly spaced from the air duct and has a plurality of correspondingly shaped and dimensioned tooth-shaped cutouts adapted to receive the teeth of the lockdown member to selectively lock the rotational position of the pivot rod and the damper in a selected angular orientation. The teeth of the lockdown member are biased by a coil spring toward engagement with the cutouts of the plate member, and yet selectively releaseable therefrom. The invention provides secure and locked positioning of the damper.
