  • Patent number: 5139012
Abstract: A fireplace heat exchanger having input means that is directly connected to a blower assembly, air to be heated is drawn in by the blower assembly and forced directly through the input means into a heat reservoir that is suspended directly above or within the flame of the fireplace. The air is heated within the heat reservoir and then forced through an output means that includes a plurality of discharge ports through which the heated air is dispersed into a room. An aesthetically appealing manifold covers those portions of the input and output means that are outside the fireplace. That portion of the manifold that covers the output means includes a corresponding plurality of discharge ports through which the heated air is dispersed. The input and output means slidably fit within the input and output riser tubes so the heat exchanger can be adjusted for fireplaces of various depths. The heat exchanger can be used with fireplaces having a frame with closable doors, wire mesh curtains, or the like.

  • Patent number: 4767088
Abstract: A multistation bird feeder support is disclosed which may be inventoried and shipped in a disassembled, compact condition, and easily assembled by the user. The feeder provides a two-piece center pole adapted to be mounted at its lower end in the ground. The upper end of the center pole is provided with four longitudinally extending slots sized to receive flattened portions of two interfitting support beams and to maintain the support beams perpendicular to the center pole. A bird feeder or the like can be mounted on each end of each beam. A lock member is positioned in the upper end of the pole above the cross beams, and a bolt is threaded through the lock member into engagement with the upper surfaces of the beams to hold them in a perpendicular position and assist the beams in supporting end loads. A cap is mounted on the upper end of the center pole and provides a skirt extending around the lock member to prevent it from spreading the upper end of the pole.

  • Patent number: 4203417
Abstract: A fireplace heater and grate is disclosed comprising a series of vertically-extending laterally spaced convection tubes having portions at their lower ends for passage therethrough of unheated air, and a rectangular grate of basket-like configuration for containing coal or like fuel for providing a fire for heating the air in said tube portions. The tube portions extend through the grate in heat-exchanging relationship with said fuel. Cast iron shields are provided which overlie and are in contact with said tube portions for protecting said tube portions from the corrosive and burning effects of said burning fuel. The shields are of semi-circular cross-section and have arcuate ends. The grate is supported by cast iron legs removably secured to the grate at the corners thereof.
