Abstract: A thermoelectric device for use with solar cells or other heat sources. A substrate has a manufactured surface with a plurality of highland features and lowland features. Each highland feature defines a peak adjacent to which there is an interface of two different film regions (formed of two different metals, two different semiconductors, or one metal and one semiconductor). The two film regions diverge away from each other with increasing distance from the interface and terminate at distal end regions. In response to a temperature difference between the interface and the distal end regions, the device produces a voltage.
Abstract: A glass substrate is provided having a major surface on which there is a coating comprising a transparent conductive oxide film. The TCO film may comprise aluminum-doped zinc aluminum oxide (“AZO”) or tin-doped indium oxide (“ITO”). When the coated glass substrate is heat-treated, the coating exhibits desirable sheet resistance and absorption values. In some cases, the coating comprises a first transparent dielectric film, a second transparent dielectric film, a transparent conductive oxide film comprising AZO or ITO, and a third transparent dielectric film.

Abstract: A photovoltaic panel includes a substrate, a photovoltaic coating extending over, and being adhered to, a central region of a major surface of the substrate, and a flexible and electrically non-conductive film overlaying the photovoltaic coating, such that the photovoltaic coating is sandwiched between the film and the substrate. An assembly, which includes the photovoltaic panel, further includes a second substrate, which is joined to the first substrate, for example, by a seal member, such that an air space is enclosed between the film and the second substrate.
