Abstract: A sensor system for detecting a collision between first and second parts moving relative to each other. The sensor system comprises at least one sensor for detecting a collision between the first and second parts, the sensor comprising first and second elongate conductive elements and a non-conducting spacing element partially extending between the first and second elongate conductive elements to separate the conductive elements from each other and to define spaced, adjacent portions of the conductive elements. A signal transmitting wire is in communication with each elongate conductive element. A housing retains the sensor for mounting in a region between the first and second parts such that any collision between the parts will tend to deform the spaced, adjacent portions of the conductive elements into contact with each other at the point of collision to complete a circuit via the signal transmitting wires to indicate the collision has occurred.

Abstract: A debarking apparatus includes a cutting body having a cutting surface and a first projection configured to cooperate with a fastener. The debarking apparatus also includes a holding body for removably holding the cutting body, the holding body having a trailing surface and defining a first recess generally complementary to the first projection to receive therein the first projection in a close surrounding fit, and a first opening sized to receive the fastener. The fastener is configurable to pass through the first opening and to cooperate with the first projection and with the holding body to hold the first projection in the first recess in a close surrounding fit.

Abstract: An adjustable debarking block for a debarker having an enclosure to receive logs for debarking in order to vary the aggressiveness of the debarking process. The block member has multiple debarking surfaces, and is movable within the enclosure between positions in which one of the surfaces is exposed to engage logs. The block member is fittable into a rotor or drum type debarker. An actuator is provided to move the block member between positions. Preferably, the actuator is an airbag or telescoping cylinder.
Abstract: Apparatus for debarking logs including a drum mounted for rotation about an axis to define an inner drum surface. Debarking apparatus is provided on the inner surface configurable to debark logs within the drum at a first rate on rotation of the drum in a first direction and at a second rate when the drum is rotated in a second direction.
